I did rallycross here in Oz in the 77-80. We had jumps, a shelf with a normal landing and a water splash too. All Aussie Rallycross tracks of the period did. It was exciting and quite cheap motorsport. And surprisingly the rally guys were generally not on the pace. A variety of cars, Minis, Renaults, VWs, Holdens and Toranas. Cortinas, Datsuns and more

At times we also had offroad buggys who had a bigger jump and bypassed the water splash. Even had outfit bikes a few times.

From what I have seen of Euro Rallycross it is more a demo derby than racing, otherwise it seems a bit woosy!

The driving standards this year in my eyes have got out of hand.

Well, let's just say there seems to be very little reprimanding of rubbish driving as there would have been in the past.

I cannot remember an incident where a driver has been docked places or received a licence issue with driving standards.
Which, when you look at what happens in big league stuff elsewhere like F1, Ausv8, BTCC is pretty much a blot on their notepad.

I think it is driven by IMG, they want the rough and tumble, they want to promote it as part of the sport which in essence it has always had.  But the last round I saw in Germany, every single first corner was a DD lottery, no penalties, no real wallopings despite the fact you could easily puncture someone or take out their suspension.

So, if thee is no penalty it will just get worse.  It's a hard discipline to judge as it is so immediate and punchy, but  do thnk more could be done.
