The talk is over and once again we are back in the wonderful city of Montreal. The Formula 1 Grand Prix du Canada always puts and end to the tough talks and the battles automatically resumes, only this time the walls will happily sort some out. Nothing in life is free but I tell you what is free here.... a pesky yellow flag. For those of you who think you have had enough  of flags ruining stuff, you might be in for another one here. I have a direct line to lewis so those of you who want him to do his best lap on his first run, the number is 555-555-555-5555-555.

So let do this....

Laps 70 Circuit length 4.361 km (2.709 mi) Race length 305.270 km (189.694 mi) Number of times held 50 First held 1961 Most wins (drivers) 23px-Flag_of_Germany.svg.png Michael Schumacher (7) Most wins (constructors) 23px-Flag_of_Italy.svg.png Ferrari (13)

2013 pole lap. Sebastian Vettel. 1m 25.425s

07-canada-circuit_0.jpg

This circuit is also famous for its wall of champions but non-champions are not immune as it claims anyone who wants to outwit it.

Current form suggests that Redbull will have a face as long as the back straight on sunday with the Mercedes works teams almost lapping the entire field. 1s-1.5s per lap seems like a good guesstimate. Race day promises to be fun with ill-timed safety cars making life miserable for stategists.

LMAO@ Renault full power http://www.renaultsp...rong> </strong>. Will we see even more failures on the Renault powered cars compared to any point in the season?

The wolf, eh-mm, wolff won't accept tangling from his drivers or else team order shall be deployed. Sounds like my former team, dammit, School principal only without a cane. http://www.espn.co.uk/mercedes/motorsport/story/161083.html?CMP=OTC-RSS

Mclaren potential

Mclaren have a word they have used so many times it should automatically be plastered all over the car, why even look for a  title sponsor?. Every fan knows the word already. You, yes you, you know you want it, sorry, know it.....POTENTIAL. We hope they finally find the key to unlock this potential, why not just break the flipping locks?

Canada my favourite!
Fun fact: this is the place of the first F1 race I ever watched back in 1999. :)

This is certainly a circuit where simply watching the cars drive around is entertaining enough. It should be even better with year's ill-handling cars. That said, I'd prefer the racing here not being completely **** on by DRS.

I'd love to visit this city and GP one day.

I'd say its easily the best on the calendar in terms of all-round spectator experience - relatively affordable, good racing, you are close to the race, full crowds so the atmosphere is immense, and the city just embraces F1 like no other - it really is a festival.

I went in 2007 and 2008 and they were easily my best F1 experiences, and I've been to the likes of Melbourne and Monza too.

Seriously, it's one of the tracks with the best natural tendency to promote overtaking, and it has TWO zones. Such ****. You gotta wonder who is making these calls. Do they watch the races?

The patient is healthy, but the FIA have prescribed two doses of broad-spectrum antibiotics just to be sure.

I think that FOM should have the podium finishers do a leap of the steps. And then a mid-air freeze frame to end the broadcast.

A favourite race, I get the same feeling heading into the Canada-weekend as the race in Melbourne. It's pretty much the same!

How I would love to see Lewis getting a revenge on Nico one way or another  :rotfl:

Alonso for the win!

Jokes aside, I expect Hamilton to dominate this one. Quite possibly his best track.

I can understand having the DRS zone down the front stretch but down the back straight, pointless.

So I keep reading the track might be better for Mercedes teams because of the amount of straights. But I got a feeling the pecking order will remain the same. Really cant see Williams, FI or McLaren beating the Red Bulls. What do you guys think?

That first and second sector (till the hairpin) is, though flat, really Red Bull territory. Left and rights but quite long corners, with quite some even throttle, not so angular as on another tracks. In ye old days (last year!) the Red Bulls really were good there, and especially Vettel seemed to be driving in the next corner when he had not reached the apex of the first... So I think: 1 & 2  Mercedeses. 3 and 4. Red Bullls. 5. Ferrari (Alonso). 6 en 7. Force India's, 8. Raikkonen, 9. Button, 10. Bottas, 11. Massa, 12... something like that.

This time again 2 DRS zones BUT:

Only 1 activation point (before the hairpin). So there won't be a counter attack on the start finishing straight. The guy behind can overtake before the final chicane and then pull further away with DRS after the chicane. Not good.

Canada reminds me the old Hockenheim circuit. Long straights and chicanes.

It'll be interesting to see if McLaren and Williams/Force India are higher up the order than usual and if they can make the podium, or if it'll be a Ferrari or Redbull on the final step of the podium.

Same as they always seem to do at Canada every year, for reasons I don't know.

It's baffling. If a car can't overtake on the first straight, it's unlikely they will overtake on the pit straight which is much shorter. The 2nd DRS Zone only serves to allow the overtaker to pull a gap, so that the battle will more likely end there.

FIA :drunk:

I thought I was sure there were 2 activation points in the past. I'm 100% sure concerning 2011 at least ( with Schumi in a battle for 3rd place). How about last year?

There's only ever been a single activation point at this track.

That is incorrect. There has only ever  been a single detection point but there have been two activation points since 2011 at the same points illustrated in the circuit diagram the OP provided.

I know theres zero chance of it, but I'd love someone other than a Merc driver to win on sunday.

and I'm not biased. it can be any of the other drivers...  getting tired of the Merc demonstration drives.

For those who missed it... HAM wins every alternate race at this track since his debut and is due a win this year

My podium prediction: HAM, BOT, HUL.

Somehow I get the feeling if Schumacher was in the car and beating Nico the way Lewis is, you would sing a slightly different tune. Just a hunch though ;)

Yeah that's the reason he is not biased, when Schumacher would drive the car he would love to see him win against Rosberg, as biased fan, right? And you are a Lewis fan

Well you've certainly picked a great track to make your "F1 Debut" !

Congratulations mate

I'm a fan of this track.

Usually provides some exciting racing, and the weather can spice things up as well.

I'm not giving Red Bull much chance of beating the Merc's around here.

I reckon they will still comfortably be best of the rest though.

Can't see Rosberg winning this one.

I believe this is where Hamilton will start to take control over the championship.
