No record breaking for Mercedes.  Ricciardo's first win.  A blockbuster finish with 5 cars in contention in the last 10 laps.

(*insert comment about Massa here*)

If only ever race could be like that.  So many stories or cars to keep track of, with so many people having a chance.  Rosberg did a great recovery considering the circumstances.

I wouldn't go that far. Best race of the season so far, probably for the entire season.

So glad to see Riccardio win.

The race in the end was great but it was that only because of the problems of mercedes duo, the first half of the race was very very boring.in the great but I have seen many better ones.

I am happy that someone other than Mercedes won, Massa or Perez would have been nice too but that it was a Redbull was a nice bonus.

Separate from any of that.. it was just nice to see so much drama and unpredictability in the race.  Many drivers had a chance to win and you had to stay glued to every lap to find out the answer.

Not even close to those we saw during V8 era.

Most over the top thread title ever.

The race was dramatic, largely due to freakish reliability issues, but certainly not the best ever, nor even close to it.

Freakish reliability issues? Try biggest single evolution of technology in F1's history.

Fantastic race. Although the TV direction was rubbish. And we're lucky that Felipe Massa isn't dead.

Best Eva? Nah, but I really enjoyed it. Best race of the season for me, really enjoyed it. Canada is more often than not great, and this year was no exception. Great entertainment, and really happy to see Ricciardo take the maiden win.

It was a great race yes, wouldn't call it the best ever. Bahrain was better than this.

Still top stuff from Ricciardo on getting his first win.

This is probably the last race which may have been better. Hard to compare though.

Incredible race, it pretty much had it all.

If every race were like that, then none of them would be special.  Compare e.g. crucial goals in football with crucial baskets in basketball.  You can think of hundreds of the former, but none of the latter.

Best ever is hard to say, but it was epic and knowing it was going to be that around halfway through the race didn't make it any worse.

No, not really, only because of circumstances in last few laps.

It was a merely ok race. Not enough wheel to wheel action. Bahrain was miles better.

Brazil 2012, can't beat that. If it had been last race, yes this would have been better. Title tension gives a whole other dimension to it.

Emotion and heat of the moment = don't take things too literally.

Best race of the season though.. easily, not for any one team for the average F1 fan in general.  The only people who could think otherwise are Merc fans.. understandably so.

but not the best ever.

Not interested in claiming it was the best ever or anything, but yes, it was very entertaining. Would have been quite a letdown if Nico held onto the lead. It's always nice to see a lead change, even better when it's a driver losing his virginity and better again that it was Ricciardo, couldn't be happier for him.

It's for this reason that a Redbull win for me seems special.  It's why I've enjoyed this season.  In the last year or two, it's been a bit too easy or predictable.. but a win in this season feels better than 5 wins in 2012 or 2013.

And I guess the same point holds in terms of excitement of the races.  The dull ones make the exciting ones more special.  I would have been just as happy if Massa had won, because it would have been an enjoyable way to spend 2 hours of your time.  Sometimes you watch these races and wonder why.. but this Canada race was easy to enjoy or appreciate.  It delivered.

Good race but not close to being best ever.

The current rules by random throw these casinos, but overall they limit stuff too much and lock in the early season standings. And mostly result in boring races, today was lucky instance with the technical problems, otherwise it wouldnt been even close.

And did you hear Buttons interview with Vilander? He seemed to imply that old drivers who have been aroud also enjoyed old all out formula more but it is what it is.

Still watch it and enjoy it, but it is not what it used to be.

Random exciting shuffles like today help ofcourse but noway close to best race ever. Feels too artificial (and i guess really oldschool fans will call the same stuff since the start of my "golden era" but still this is my honest opinion)

That had a lot to do with Maldonado inspired safety car.

The last time my heartrate during the whole race was so high was in 1981, when Villeneuve won in Spain.

Bahrain was better IMO, but what makes this race special is seeing a new driver winning a race. Can't beat that feelgood feeling it gives.

And this had a lot to do with the Mercedes MGUK failures.

You can put a lot of great races down to one or two factors. Bahrain - safety car. Brazil 2012 - Vettels crash and the rain. Canada 2011 - the rain.

Exactly. All the pre-race expectations were blown away. When was the last time cars from 4 different teams took charge at one point or the other of the GP?

I'll cherish the GP even though Hamilton suffered another cruel misfortune which he could not have prevented.

Exactly, that's really selling the classics short.

It was a fun and enjoyable race, no doubt about it. But 30 minutes after the race is not the right time for these kinds of proclamations.

No we weren't, don't be silly. It's the result of 20 years of intensive safety research that has led to strong, safe cars that can stand up to a big crash. Frankly his crash here in 04 was far more worrying, that one was a lucky escape..

It was a very good race with lots of excitement, but it is hard to compare all those great races all throughout years. In fact, it is unfair to compare, Because they all gave lots of excitement, especially in the closing stages and that's it. We shouldn't try to put something on a lower level, because if they all were literally nail-biting, there is no reason to try to choose between all those great emotions. Great is great.

For starters Canada 2011 and 2012 were equally exciting with lots of action and changes particularly at the end of the race.

There's absolutely no point in trying to say it was the best race ever.

For example, if I think back to Canada 2011, I think of rain and JB's charge through the field, to his taking the lead at the end. That race had boring laps midway through probably while Jenson was at the back, but I overlook them when I look back. In five years when I look back on today I'm sure I won't remember the bit at the start while Mercedes were running away.

I just take every race for what it is and enjoy it. There's not much point in comparing it to previous races I only remember the highlights of, and even less point in arguing about it with others.

Nah, if he'd hit Vettel he could easily have got airborne and hit one of those trees behind the tyre wall. And then it would've been Goodnight Vienna.

It was inches away from being a Heidfeld/Sato crash in Austria 2002

Yes I think those two are by far the best races of recent years. Bahrain too was more enjoyable throughout than today, but nevertheless it was a fantastic race today.
