I thought his comments slamming Renault engines on Friday was a bit over the top. Basically he said Red Bull's accounting department is tracking them very closely and that they might send Renault a bill at the end of the season!

Sounds pretty ungrateful for all the Championships they won together!

Today Red Bull got a 1st and a 3rd!

Wonder what he is saying tonight?

There's a language filter on this forum, so there's not much I can say

Old news, he has a point re the Renault PU. RB were lucky to get first and third though Mercs reliability problems and Massa being unable to take advantage with his tire and PU advantage.

Renault PU = not being able to overtake a Force India with DRS open while the FI has his closed = fail.

V@sh is right, but Marko is a troublemaker and I have not changed my mind that he should practice keeping his trap shut for best PR practices at RBR.

If the Renault engine was as powerful/reliable as the Merc Red Bull would be right up with merc in the WCC; probably still behind but with the possibility to out develop them later in the season.

RB have every right to be pissed off. They aren't spending all this money to be also rans.

Uness Renault make drastic improvements for next season I can see RB moving to a Audi/VAG engine for 2016. Honda will sink too much into Mclaren to also back a competitor.

VAG/Audi have said they aren't that interested, but there is huge marketing potential for Audi in F1 if they can come in and beat Merc, with a great german driver like Vettel. And realistically RB are the only team that could offer them the chance to do that.

I like his flavesque shooting from the hip . People write him off as just a Vettel sugar daddy but you can attribute a significant chunk of the modern motorsport industry to his work over the years.

He is good at spotting talent as proved by Vettel and Ricciardo. However, it's best that he keeps his mouth shut. There's a good reason to why he is one of the least liked characters on the paddock.

What? What does Hitler have to do with Army Forums? And if you did go to a Dictatorship forum, people would argue.... One of the worst analogies I've ever seen.

I wonder, whether Renault intended to send RedBull a bill at the end of the 2009 season because of the lost championship which was more because of the drivers and not so much because of the engine.

Can't stand him, but ......... was he not responsible for spotting and nurturing both Vettel and Ricciardo?

And Gerhard Berger and Juan Pablo Montoya. Bringing Red Bull into sports sponsorship leading to where it is today. Keeping Sauber running for many years, being instrumental in RB purchasing Jag and and Minardi, etc etc.

I wonder how it was for Williams to have the Judd engine in 88... Well **** can happen, and blaming everyone for it won't fix it.

Uhm, well - my extreme dislike for the man, will bring me to a comparison that are way way way over the top, but it's the only thing I can think of. Hitler did a lot good for infrastructure he still lacked some vital human skills.

He certainly seems to know a thing or two about the racing business, but (and this is coming from a fellow Austrian) he really seems to be a bit of a dick.  Then again, to be successful, one probably needs to be a bit of a dick. :smoking:

TBH, if the guy turned up to the next race riding a unicycle, wearing shoes that curled up at the toes, a funny hat, a strap on nose and a flower in his lapel that squirted water..........I wouldn't notice the difference.

To thoose saying he's a asshole, well that's what he's paid for so Horner don't have to be the bad guy. Pretty smart if you ask me.

Bernoldi, Klien, Buemi were not bad, Buemi is one of Toyota's faster drivers! Klien I felt needed more time, and as for Jamie, he was too young and thrown in. The guy probably could do a good job

My opinion is that every team needs a Helmut Marko.Someone who doesn't give a flying **** what anyone else other than the team he is working for thinks or says about him.Personally,if Ferrari were going for Adrian Newey they should also offer to also take Marko because he seems to know how to streamline thing in the racing department.

I think Adrian enjoys this a lot actually, let Helmut deal with the politics and the piranhas of F1,he can concentrate on designing cars.

That said, ther guy is a class A douche bag and I would hate to be around him.

Marko is a politician, therefore he is what he is and garners little respect outside of Red Bull I would imagine.

I think he has an exceptional eye for talent, while being extremely intelligent. That's a pretty sound combination. I think he's there at Red Bull to simply separate the gems from the pebbles. So far, he's done an exceptional job and I think he's really good at his job. I don't think his rant against Renault is all that rubbish. It sounds quite correct, it's just that we fans have become used to robotic answers from everybody around so that people can butter one another and keep everybody happy. I don't and never have liked Mark Webber and the things Marko said for/about him were based on his own agenda and way out of line. Webber aside, Marko has contributed a lot to Red Bull's success, not just on the F1 stage but in the lower levels also.

He's a hard ass, but to have his job you got to be. He's been in the game long enough to know what he's doing, and so far from what i've seen with Reb bull is that he has done a very good job of bringing young talent through the ranks into F1.
