What did Nico say?

"Why am I getting so many d-rates(?)"
"It's a test item Nico, test item."
"Well tell me about it then next time!"

We'd have 15 pages more if Lewis had said that.,

What did Nico say?

That he was getting a lot of derates, to which Tony Ross replied that it was because of a test item.  Nico responded with 'Well tell me next time!!!'.

I believe derates means reduction in PU output.

Lewis mentioned a loss of power earlier and was quite polite about it, didn't seem at all flustered.

Derating is when the calibration reduces torque to protect something else in the powertrain. All modern road cars do it.

I missed all of practise, what are people thinking the winning pitstop strategy will be round here?

Removing the old tyres and fitting the new ones without any problems.

Lewis seems to be good around the track and Nico has some problems, he was not very happy at the end, you could hear his anger over the radio. If there is no tremendous change, Lewis will be favorite for pole positions tomorrow, but Nico on the other hand practiced starts like a mad man, perhaps he wants to jump Lewis at the start, after his bad starts this season. I am disappointed with Red Bull the time gap on this track is too big, over a second, Sebastian in front of Dan, but the times as usually not far away. I can see Massa or Alonso getting the third place here, both are handy around, a case of knowing the track quite well ?

Missed the practice but just watching GP2 Quali. It is so nice to be back at a real track. Grass alongside the track is how it should be. The white line should really mean the edge of the track like it does here. I cant help but think that all the spins at the chicane in Canada caused by drivers dropping a wheel on to the grass was due to them being so used to not having to worry about running wide.

Anyway, its a so nice to see a pretty track with natural undulations.

Ted mentioned two stops.  I think that will be the case as teams usually suffer from more tyre issues during the FP sessions, then back off/make the necessary changes for the race.

I hate and love this sport in equal measures at times, but it's starting to tip to former with the plastic surgery being given to great tracks.

Oh great. What was once a challenging corner now has a free get out of jail card to anybody who has an ambition over adhesion moment. Similar to Pouhon at Spa. In fact similar to most of Spa these days, unless it's wet.

Hmmm Vettel slower in FP1 that Ricci ...   safe to say that all the "he'll be faster when he likes the car"  talk is about to disappear .......

Vettel is being dominated by his rookie teammate.

Since when is Dan a rookie? he has 3.5 seasons under his belt, I hardly think he's being 'dominated' either.

Yeah seems they simulated last stint long runs. Rosberg started off faster but Hamilton regained the initiative toward the end. The times are so fast. Will they beat a 1:07.9 from 2003?!?

Something need to be done with the pit entry. It's too dangerous and if someone is on the pit entry while a driver behind is on hotlap it could ruin it. Especially in Q3

Well, they didn't change the pit entry compared to 2003, did they? We didn't have to many problems with it in the years before if I'm not mistaken..

STRR surprize with Kvyat sneaking up into 4th.  :D  GO Daniil !

Others were blocked there at the end, but still a nice time from him compared to the leaders.

I really hope Kvyat can finally act on his promise from the FPs. He's been so close in recent GPs. It also suggests RB must be holding back

All Renault cars got new Total fuel today. Seems to work very well in the Toro Rosso. Together with the big upgrade package it looks strong.

not going to happen. merc have done this many fp3s and everyone gets closer only for merc to go and blitz everyone in quali. this is no different

Merc were 3 tenths slower than in FP2, so they have that at least.

I'd go for 6 tenths between 1st and 3rd

Could TR really be faster than RB?  I assume that was another anomaly in a weird FP3

Trying to figure out the pole time...
Rosberg set a 1:10.058 on 20 lap old soft tyres.

So there is free time on the table from tyre wear, tyre compound and some Q3 driver and car magic.

My guess is a 1:08.465

Wow, those digital ads of Fly Emirates are so hideous. It's so ugly to the point that I would not be surprised if they actually lost clients.
