Hearing the sad news that Jim Bamber has passed away.

I always looked forward to seeing his take on F1/motorsport in general in Autosport over the last few years. The magazine hasn't been the same since he stopped producing them a while ago.

Thanks for the laughs. RIP.

Aw that's sad news. :( I knew he was ill but I was hoping he would get better and we might se him back in the magazine one day doing his fantastic cartoons. R.I.P Jim Bamber :(

P.s. Autosport you need to do like a double page tribute to him or something. He brought so many laughs to so many that that is what he deserves at least.

Agreed. It would be nice of them to reprint some of his cartoons or something.

So sad - a really lovely man.  I have many of his productions and enjoyed  several long conversations with him at Autosport Show (:

Terrible news, his little comic drawings were one of the magazines highlights.

RIP Jim.

Very sad news. His cartoons added some needed colour and humour to the world of motorsport.

Oh, so sad news. I love his work.

I knew he was not well but I have no idea his condition was so serious.

Oh crap, that is terrible news, Autosport has indeed not been the same since he had to stop making the cartoons. RIP

Oh no, I'm very sorry to hear this. I used to get e-mails to vote for his "cartoon of the month." It's sad to think that I'll never get another one, they were great cartoons.

R.I.P. Jim.

Loved his cartoons. Always the first thing I looked at in the magazine and have a few of them on the wall of my office.
Rest in peace.

Damn, that's very sad. I love his cartoons and I still treasure the ones I have of the early 1990's seasons.

RIP.

I kind of have a ritualistic manner in reading some magazines, and when Autosport used to fall through the letterbox, Bamber was one of the first things I would go to.

RIP.

His images and charactertures live on. Made a mark and humour to motorsport. Nice one Jim.

Terrible news. Loved the humour and style of his cartoons and, when i was younger and could draw, tried to replicate his works to no avail. RIP.

Sad news indeed. His work was very much an institution within F1.

Very sad news, his gently mocking humour was often very appropriate, try reading 1970s Autosport including the guest columns and then compare with the modern equivalent.

Indeed, very shocked and sad to hear this news.  Jim designed my first-edition 'Autocourse' Grand Prix car books and was an immensely talented man, with his cartoons just the tip of an iceberg. He could also produce brilliant clay figures - his 'Autocourse' Gobbling Gnomes Award was quite something... (!) - and he was a fine photographer.  Having long since lost touch with Jim I didn't even know he was ill.  My sincere condolences to his nearest and nearest, and to his many friends.

Used to love his cartoons, they always brought a smile on a Thursday morning when Autosport dropped on my doormat. RIP Jim, and hopefully your still doodling up there!
