No such thing.

Coming from 3-4 NBA games per week, F1 is very slow paced and rare by comparison and the seasons where there is a 6 or 7 week break in the middle makes me want to hurt someone.

With all due respect, the NBA isn't travelling around the world for those games, is it?

It's the same with people who make a comparison to the number of NASCAR races there are. I'm under no illusions that travelling an admittedly large country is tough, but it's nowhere near as tough as what the F1 crews have, when one weekend they're in Europe, then they're in North America, then they're god knows wherever else. In that regard, the current F1 calendar doesn't make a whole load of sense.

Fewer races is not perhaps an option anymore... i mean they were having 15-16 races even in late 80's. Commercial aspect of the sport means there will be a fair few races, so best shut up and accept as much, as even the teams want monies.

Tracks... yes, we need more of better tracks.

I'd like more classic tracks to be included...

I'd love to see F1 race at the famous Le Mans track for once. Imagine that for the final race of the year? And of course, 14 mile N'ring would be great too.

But F1 at Le Mans would be quite unbelieveable down the Mulsanne Straight.....

I'd like a race every week but sadly that will never happen.

No chance of the 'ring... Had Ecclestone bought it, you would have seen some more racing there, but as it is i don't think F1 will return anytime soon. They could have a non-chmpionship race there... with a cash reward (Grand Prix :p of about $200,000 or so) in sports cars for the drivers... It is a good idea, and pretty sure some drivers (who could use that dough) will take part (which may rope in more of the drivers unwilling to do so). Ecclestone, you heard it here first :p You could have it for free as long as i get to learn from you a bit :)

I love how threads like this reveal when the poster started watching F1 (in most cases).

20 races is fine. I know that inevitably I'll miss one or two in a year for whatever reason. I'd rather miss a smaller proportion of the season by having more races.

16 is the bare minimum as far as I'm concerned. 12 just doesn't seem healthy.

Not too many, but if I have to complain, I'd say I wouldn't mind the races to be shorter.
Also, 14:00 is an annoying time, it breaks the day and you can't really go anywhere on a Sunday.

I think the race length is fine as it is, come on, it takes less than a football match. Having a race as long as it is brings some variables like reliability and weather.

As for the starting time, 2pm isn't ideal for TV viewers, late afternoon/early evening would be better. But a later starting time wouldn't be good for the spectators who must get to airport in the evening or need to drive hundreds of kilometers to home to go to work on Monday.

Not too many GP's, but too many GP's that start at 1pm. I wouldn't mind a few more starting in the evening, or in the morning.

Don't they gear 1pm viewing mainly towards UK audiences? Don't complain bro everyone west of you suffers.

20 races...,but we haven't lived through the dreaded double points finale yet, opinions might change......

12 to 15 races on the best tracks. Two mid season testing sessions with breaks. Season starts Mid March and ends in mid October.

Aus, Malay, Imola, Canada, Barca, Austria, Monaco,British, Turkey, Monza, Austin, Singapore, Spa, Suzuka, Brazil. 10 year contracts for these circuits.

They can nuke the rest of the circuits.  :p

And how would Bernie pay back the loans then to the banks?

What bullshit tracks are on the calendar this year apart from Abu Dhabi?

Malaysia, China and Bahrain have now got decent reputations. Singapore, maybe.

??? You are making no sense. Why would these tracks have had bad reputations before? And what's wrong with Abu Dhabi? Is it because its new or is there an actual thing that you can point out?

I think the calendar has a more important problem than the number of races, that being the irregularity of the races (at least it's not as bad as the WEC).

I'm also doubtful that the division between Asia - Europe - Asia/America in the season is particularly helpful, especially considering the length of the 'European' season.

But twenty races? Fine with me. I'd be fine with 15, too, but I should probably note that I've come to care less and less about the championship and focus more on particular races, such as at Spa-Francorchamps, Suzuka, Interlagos and Monza.

Heaven forbid an actual world championship race in parts of the world that aren't Europe - that just won't do

*Sings 'God Save The Queen', drops monocle into champagne glass, can't remember any World Champion from the 1960s that wasn't British*

I enjoy the first race the most of a season, due to the wait and the anticipation of it all.. but it doesn't mean we should have a 3 month wait before every GP.

That's a fair point but IMO this is more about the fans perspective, in terms of their enjoyment of the races rather than the paddock and the crews of the teams.. who work work all season long and get very little rest.  They are overworked but that's separate from whether or not people want races every one week or two weeks or once a month.

Since cost cutting is relevant these days, wouldn't a 16 race season actually help in cutting costs quite a lot? Certainly, all the money spent on logistics and other rents would be saved, which would be a good thing, as much as I'd hate to see a shorter season.

That depends on whether the income is greater than the expenditure for the teams over a race weekend. Cut the number of races and TV companies will want a cut in the fees so income would be less.

You might want to do your math again.

I know thats only 16, I was saying I would be happy with that so any more is a bonus.
