Here's how Chilton did over the weekend:

  1. He completed 85 practice laps. (guess range: 58 to 80 laps, average 70.76)
  2. He finished 21st in qualifying (guess range: 18th to 22nd, average 20.18)
  3. He set a time that was 2.3 seconds slower than the fastest time in q1 (1:11.775 vs. 1:09.514)(guess range: 1.6 s to 3.7 s, average 3.00 s)
  4. He finished the race in 17th place (guess range: 15th to 19th position, average 16.59)
  5. His fastest lap was 2.8 seconds slower than the best (1:14.847 vs 1:12.142) (guess range: 2.6 s to 4.2 s, average 3.32 s)
  6. He entered the pit lane once (guess range: 2 to 3, average 2.06)

So, it was effectively a new track and a short one too so perhaps we should have expected the slightly larger number of practice laps and relatively small time gaps. The one-stop strategy surprised everyone as well.

And before I reveal the results of this round, here are the points deductions for this round:

  1. 0.866 points/lap
  2. 5.723 points/position
  3. 8.650 points/second
  4. 4.116 points/position
  5. 10.80 points/second
  6. 16.53 points/entry

And now for the results.
