Yep, although it's a bit unfortunate crowing to the world in such a fashion when one of your cars is a smouldering wreck! A victim of their own marketing there.

Well, they are stuck with it because dropping it would defeat the object of having the hashtag in the first place, namely allowing people to follow, join in with the subject.

I rarely post but this is utterly ridiculous. This is just tooooo coincidental. I don't see how anyone's first thought wasn't 'sabotage'

This is pure BS. Just close, or rename the topic. It has nothing to do with Nico Rosberg any more. Just Hamilton vs. luck.

What really matters now is to see how much damage has the Power Unit, the gearbox, the ERS system and the batteries.

That's 4 times now this season his car has failed within minutes of a session starting, or even before it properly started (Aus P1, Aus race, Ger Q and Hun Q) which is rather ridiculous.

Precisely, it's only a surprise now because they are leading the championships so dominantly.

I'm astounded Lewis was able to speak to the media so soon, if it was me, I would's said, 'sod this', got changed and left the circuit so i can suffer away from the eyes of the World. What's the worst they could do to me? Set my car on fire?

He's have to start from the pitlane. I doubt much will be salvageable.

Arnt you allowed to change parts due to damage and still start from grid position?

I'm glad Hamilton has said "it's beyond bad luck, it's something else*, 'cause I interpret those words as meaning he's going to bring this up, and demand better preparation and no more eyes of the ball.

He should just change everything and go from the pit lane, there will be carnage at the start tomorrow, best he avoids it, especially with his luck.

Thanks - but I am asking about "what is the rule" ... not what is the best suggestion for him

I believe that is damage pre weekend, e.g Rosberg from Silverstone to Germany

Well unless fixing the parts changes his setup, he'd be able to start on the grid. He entered Parc Ferme when he went out on track, so his setup is set in stone but he can replace damaged parts.

It's fun to think of potential conspiracy motives :p

"Mercedes mechanic wins big after £5000 bet on Nico Rosberg to win the championship, placed last December" :smoking:

its funny how the conspiracy theorists some like to mock, keep making correct predictions...maybe they are not mad after all.its easy to predict whats going to happen, because we "conspiracy theorists" can see whats really going on.so maybe the non conspiracy theorists are actually the crazy ones.i thought they would let them race in hungary, lewis would win, then in the next race he'd have bad reliability,so theyve suprised me a little, but not really.in lewis final season with mac,his reliabilty was awful, and you could see they were more interested in button.it looks like history starting to repeat itself.

Thanks - that's what I thought ...... but as a matter of practicalities - how would they know if he changed his set up?? It did one lap then burned down like an insurance fraud!

His car is OUT of parc fermé now. Can't fix it if not.

Now Lewis fans know how Michael felt being let down, i seem to remember he had way more failures than Nico, is it that side of the garage are not as good at their jobs

This thread has a mind of it's own.  It will open Part VI by itself.

I've seen so many Mercedes engine blowups when Häkkinen and Räikkönen were in McLaren that this seems just familiar in a sad way.

I think people are spoiled by good reliability of today's cars. There was a time championships were robbed by reliability issues regularily - the idea was to be so much better than the competition that you could stand a few mishaps.

Good for Hamilton that he has an unbeatable car... the problem is he has a very good team mate. Maybe a tiny bit slower, but not enough to make Hamiltons life easy.

Well with perfect reliability, Hamilton's life wouldn't be as hard.

It's sad for Nico to get his title without a proper fight.
