I think, both are important. FiA Formula One started in (at) Silverstone (I was there) although I was not present at the launching  of the original QE2

Silverstone are celebrating their 50th race so spectators are in for some special events to mark the occasion including pit-lane access on the Thursday, an option to go to the centre of the track to view historic F1 cars and new vantage points and a parade of ex-winners (cars and drivers)

Currently showing dry for Friday and a chance of showers (possibly heavy) for qualifying and the race.

 

Driver changes: A few reserve drivers are taking the wheel for FP1: At Caterham Robin Frijns steps in for Kobayashi, Juncadella replaces Hulkenberg at Force India, Suzie Wolff gets to drive the Williams and Van der Garde drives instead of Sutil for Sauber.

I have no idea if either event is any good but I guess its a chance to experience a bit of the F1 atmosphere if attending Silverstone is not an option (and London is).

I will be in the comfort of my living room.  We are back to the 5am races which rock.  The other races in more 'friendly' times mess up my schedule. 

Hoping RBR is able to take advantage of the fast corners and/or the rain.  And a clean weekend for Seb would be nice.

Ian Fergusson says Saturday forecast still the same (high chance of AM rain possibly heavy, may or may not last into qualifying time) and Sunday now has a 60% chance of showers for the race, possibly heavy. So basically, after weeks of nice weather (ok there was some rain last week) rain is going to turn up at some point over the Silverstone weekend. Surprised? Not me.

I live about 45 minutes from Silverstone and we've been having some gorgeous weather this week. So yes, it's definitely going to be horrible at the weekend.

Be prepared for 1hr of waiting for the track to dry out enough for inters.

Carriers will soon be obsolete because of more advanced anti-ship missiles  .... biggest waste of money next to the F35 (...which we are also participating in pissing money away on).

Neither did I, and really it's quite a poor design considering the limitations of what can be flown off it.

The last thing I saw from Ian Fergusson regarding Sunday was a 60% chance, and if it rains it could be heavy.
