14yrs today since Joey died doing what he did best!!!
Never spoke to the Man, but have 'sank a few' in Joeys Bar during Ulster week. Leathers "dumped" on the bar floor, helmets on shelves, bkes in glass cases up on the walls.............

Hi, just seeing this.

I just saw him race once, on a short circuit (Mondello Park, Ireland), around late 80's / early 90's. IIRC he was on a 500 Honda 2 stroke, Honda Britain works bike I think.

It was raining, as it does here in the summer, and he had a handy lead but dropped it under braking right in front of me going into the first hairpin corner, he was fine just a harmless slide.

One thing I remember, was that everyone was in awe of him and knew what a legend they were seeing in the flesh (again IIRC it was one of his few if not only race there).

A true legend sadly missed.
