Gianni Lancia has died, just short of 90 years of age - although the article says July, it appears he died on the 30th June. Nice, honest retrospective here - http://automotiveval...1924-july-2014/

Here's an article, which a lot of the text is translated from in the english-language article, which confirms date and place of death - http://ruoteclassich...-gianni-lancia/

His virtual disappearance from the sport and industry for me was a great shame - a true, direct, and for a short while, integral link to the past who never discussed it - potential stories lost so long ago, it's almost as if he died many years ago.

I thought he had died years ago as well.

The Pesenti Group taking over Lancia - any relations to Alex Pesenti-Rossi? I know AP-R had a rather aristocratic-looking helmet before his F1 run, sort of a diamond field a la Monaco coat of arms.
