Oh , what a shame , Glenn , one of the greats in the 60/70's scrambling world , thanks in part to those wonderful BBC ' Grandstand ' Saturday afternoon slots , thanks for the info , RIP , Dave , didn't he set up a film stunt company ??

Yes, sad news. Saturday afternoons in front of the telly when a kid was immediately what came to mind for me too.

Very sad news - I used to watch him on TV when I was a kid and cheer him on against Jeff Smith because we'd lived in Suffolk.

It was good to see all the old scramblers reunited at the Goodwood Revival a couple of years ago.

And he did indeed have a film stunt company - the papers will pick up on Bond films he did but he also did the infamous 'Space Riders' in 1983. Hard to realise that was 30 years ago, and 20 years after first seeing the scrambling on TV.

RIP, the legendary and top bloke Dave Bickers.

A relative of mine works for Bickers Action and last year took me round their place,  I met Dave who showed me his bike collection, he had some fantastic stuff inc. two of his works Greeves mx, sorry scramblers. He was a cracking bloke who was charging round the yard on a mountain bike like a kid and planning a continental trip on an old Triumph he was restoring.

R.I.P. Dave.

How sad. I'd heard he wasn't in the best of health. I saw him race just the once along with Jeff Smith, at a scrambles meeting at Lydden Hill. I wrote to him later and he sent me a signed photo.
