A) is clearly ruled out as it could only be awarded corruptly.
So B) or I) as they are real motorsport venues.
All the rest are football stadiums. What have they got to do with motorsport? I notice they didn't play the World Cup Final at Interlagos.
The RoC needs to get back to its roots - all this stadium crap has seen it become increasingly irrelevant.
Posted 14 July 2014 - 18:39
RoC peaked after that first year indoors, 2004?
Posted 14 July 2014 - 19:32
Ricoh Arena? What's wrong with good old Coventry Stadium?
Just like being at Wembley! The old Wembley.

Although that's really just two-car rallycross.
Maybe RoC should team-up with FIA Rallycross or the US version and have a Super Final in the off season. It's already becoming RoC-lite with some of the grids.

So in other words it's going to go to Qatar?

COTA, for me.

I liked it in Bangkok - purely for selfish reasons - was a quick flight from when I lived in Singapore - not many people there, and you got to see the drivers up close and personal ;)
SB -and I'm a real interested fan....

Would be great for the UK, but sadly he tickets will probably be ourtrageous, they always are.
Mate went to Wembley and left after 3 hours was bored out of his skin!
Plus, that arena is doing nothing asfter the pathetic fallout between the club and owners, football does itself no favours as usual

It bums me out that we won't see the classic team Gremany with MSC and VET
This
Completely ruined my mood. Not your fault off course but just puts into context how much we took Michael for granted.

Doesn't matter where it goes, hardly anyone attends.
I went when it was at Wembly. Middle of winter, damned cold and once you have seen a couple of races there isn't much more to it. I wouldn't bother to go again.

Good point.
I do kind of like the idea of the going to COTA as I'm curious how it would work. Would it be like in the first year or two of ROC where they raced at the nurburgring side by side, or would it be like a free for all race?
I'm not sure how it would work. Personally, looking at just my selfish wants, I'd love to see ROC here in Austin, but for the good of the ROC I can't see why they'd want to come here. In its short history, COTA already has a reputation for underpromoting races and running off racing series (V8SC, World Challenge, Porsche Cup, Historic GP, almost WEC).

Are they going to use Robby's Stadium Supertrucks as one of the competitive vehicles for the ROC?

I don't know man. I travelled all the way from Ireland to Dusseldorf to catch both days in December 2011, and it was an awesome experience. One I'd tell any motor fan to go to see. Dusseldorf stadium had a roof so it wasn't cold, and it was pretty packed solid both days. The beer was nice, the gluhwein was fantastic, and the hot dogs and aroma of tyre-smoke wafting inside the stadium was heaven. I believe Wembley didn't have a roof? Not much of a soccer fan so I don't know, but I'm guessing it doesn't. It was an epic experience. We were sat at the front of the first corner, seeing Vettel walk down to pick up some debris from a previous crash from the elderly racers, with Michael Schumacher in tow. I was pretty impressed that Vettel after the group photo walked all the way down the straight to survey the damage to the barrier, and pick up some debris, whilst chatting to Schumacher. Timo Glock came up to where we were sitting and got to say hello (he is really really tiny). Half-time, there was a parade around the track of 20+ of the most expensive road cars in existence, and Petrov in a two seater Renault tearing around. The sound of that engine bouncing off the inside of the stadium was immense. It was a thoroughly fantastic experience, and I hope it returns to Dusseldorf very very soon as I'd race back. Stayed in the Hilton a short walk from the venue, and the football team Dortmund Borussia were staying in the hotel (where they always stay for matches). They were fun to chat with in the bar, and as I said, I haven't a clue about soccer. ROC Dusseldorf was an absolutely epic and intimate experience, one that I wish I had experienced more.

The old stadium didn't, but the new one does, not that it was closed when I went. Don't think it would have made much difference to the temp even if it had been.
When I went the whole event was run over one day, don't think I would have wanted to go back for a second day. I just found that once you have watched a few races it becomes too repetitive and not that exciting. I'd prefer to see something run on a more traditional circuit with more than just 2 cars at a time.

What a champion for all time, and he was pretty much like the ambassdor champion of the event since it started.
I think it's a shame Kimi, Alonso haven't joined in, they would help bring in a tad more star power from the f1 side,, is Hamilton showing up....

Looking foward to see Kurt VS Peter.
Posted 12 December 2014 - 20:18
Susie Wolff is probably the best champion in the history of this event.

It isn't much of "own game" when it set up for all tarmac, with tyres that fits as well.
