Who from the top drivers in F1 (Alonso, Vettel, Hamilton, Raikkonen, etc) is likely to make a move to Formula E in the near future?
I know Formula E is yet to race, but I have to admit I kind feel very excited about this new formula racing.

Well only 3 of that 4 is a top driver...

I say Sutil goes, or kobayashi.

With Buemi doing Formula E while still a 3rd driver for RBR, it is likely that the fever might spread among the RBR drivers.  Is he going to be sponsored by RB?

If large sums of under-the-table money are involved, then it could be any of them. If large sums of over-the-table money are involved, then it's definitely Kimi. :p

None, ever, unless they're way past their peak and can't get a F1 seat anymore (say someone like Jacques Villeneuve these days).

Seriously? Everybody is still under contract. This thread is premature to say the least.

So true, Vettel isn't one as he's proving so far this season.

Top drivers??? No. Good drivers unable to get a top drive? Maybe, if the price is right.

Well if one does, it will show that he is no longer a top driver.

Won't happen for the forseeable future. I don't see why any of the top drivers would want to step down as long as they remain top drivers. Even if there were a Mansell-style contractual fallout, I'd still expect Indycars or WEC to appeal more to top drivers than Formula E, at least at this point.

I doubt if Formula E will last long.  It will be a one day wonder.  I doubt there will be a second season. Think Superleague only even less longlasting.  No top driver is going to risk their career getting involved with it.

If they don't race at Le Mans, they won't race in Formula E.

There are a few Red Bull sponsored drivers in Formula E (including both Red Bull test drivers in Buemi and Da Costa) and also Daniel Abt (who I had no idea was sponsored by Red Bull???) as well as an ex. driver in Alguersuari. There is no Red Bull sponsorship on any of the cars but the above 3 drivers had the Red Bull logo on there helmets at the test (Alguersuari unsuprisingly didn't). (and just because no thread is complete without photos  :p )

Is a current top F1 driver likely to get involved in Formula E? Maybe - I guess it depends how the series goes, at the moment I don't see any of them leaving whilst at the peak of their abilities to jump ship to FormulaE but if the series does well I guess it will be another option once they decide to retire, will be interesting to see how the old F1 drivers who had good careers in F1 (like Trulli and Heidfeld) compare to those that had a brief chance but either did not have enough funding for some some teams or talent for the top teams (Buemi/Alguersuari/Senna/Chandok/Di Grassi/Montagny) against the young up-and-coming drivers that had F1 links (test drivers etc) but missed out on F1 seat altogether (probably for the same reasons as just mentioned - Bird/da Costa etc) as well as those coming in from totally different areas.

Yeah. Unless someone in the series opens up their checkbook and somehow can bring the money that an F1 team can to pay a top driver, nobody is moving to Formula E if they have a shot at a competitive F1 seat.

I don't think any racingdriver would race in Formula E (in it's current and foreseeable future form) if they still had an opportunity to race in F1 with anything than a total bottom grid team...

More weight with ~1/3 the power, less than 3/4 the top speed. Drivers care about such things above most others...

Not a top driver by any imagination, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Adrian Sutil pop up in Formula E soon, especially if he really gets the axe at Sauber.

Now that there's some clarity in the title, I'd say not at all.

I'm really liking the Formula E concept but no way are the top guys going there anytime soon.
Sutil, Kobayashi, Vergne those types might

There's no prestige in it yet so there's no draw to it. Le Mans, Indy 500, or even WRC holds much more appeal I'd say

How do you know what a top driver is unless theyre in a top team? Was Ricciardo a 'top driver' before moving to Red Bull? Was Rosberg a 'top driver' before Mercedes started to win? Vettel in bmw? Alonso at Minardi? Who said Bianchi wouldnt match Kimi and Fred? F-E is another avenue for drivers to impress for F1 or stay busy when no other racing is happening.
