With Buemi doing Formula E while still a 3rd driver for RBR, it is likely that the fever might spread among the RBR drivers. Is he going to be sponsored by RB?
There are a few Red Bull sponsored drivers in Formula E (including both Red Bull test drivers in Buemi and Da Costa) and also Daniel Abt (who I had no idea was sponsored by Red Bull???) as well as an ex. driver in Alguersuari. There is no Red Bull sponsorship on any of the cars but the above 3 drivers had the Red Bull logo on there helmets at the test (Alguersuari unsuprisingly didn't). (and just because no thread is complete without photos )
Abt
Buemi
Felix da Costa
Alguersuari
Is a current top F1 driver likely to get involved in Formula E? Maybe - I guess it depends how the series goes, at the moment I don't see any of them leaving whilst at the peak of their abilities to jump ship to FormulaE but if the series does well I guess it will be another option once they decide to retire, will be interesting to see how the old F1 drivers who had good careers in F1 (like Trulli and Heidfeld) compare to those that had a brief chance but either did not have enough funding for some some teams or talent for the top teams (Buemi/Alguersuari/Senna/Chandok/Di Grassi/Montagny) against the young up-and-coming drivers that had F1 links (test drivers etc) but missed out on F1 seat altogether (probably for the same reasons as just mentioned - Bird/da Costa etc) as well as those coming in from totally different areas.
