Very minor thing, but I think it's ridiculous that sponsors basically have an influence on the trophies. Eg Silverstone and today the race was sponsored by Santander, so the podium guys get a trophy (same as Silverstone, not even any variation!) that look pathetic, tacky, are little more than sponsor logos, and look like they've been made out of plasticine. Complete tacky trash, nothing like the originality of something like the Australian GP winners trophy.

They look like corporate awards, like "Best Salesman 2014" or something.
Awful.
Austria was the worst though

It's about time for F1 to put their foot down on trophy design. Each Grand Prix should have a unique trophy inscribed with every winner of the event. Silverstone does it right with the gold trophy which is presented to year after year - even if the winner has to dig it out of a cupboard to show it to the crowd. I'm not so fussed if they create new trophies for the other podium finishers and the winning constructor, but again these should be proper awards, not a corporate logo.
It's a small thing yes, but for a driver to hold up a trophy that has been in the hands of the legends of the sport adds so much to the prestige of the event.

Yes those trophies are garbage, not cool. Lewis' response was epic though at Silverstone.

Well, pegasus was from Mobil 1's logo. And Marlboro-sponsored races had the steering wheel trophy with a Marlboro logo. Trophies have always been sponsored by companies, some famous trophies have been named by who donated them. Of course, some of the modern trophies are quite ugly when they try to be too modern, remember those plastic trophies in Brazil.
But I'd like all races to have a British GP-style winner's trophy, the same trophy every year. Even though they didn't anymore have it even on the podium at Silverstone.

We have so much to learn from our American cousins
Only in the trivial stuff
When it comes to actual things that matter - running a country, looking after the economy, be a reasonable voice in international conflicts, letting logic and common sense rule over emotional and religious feelings our American cousins should not be set as an example.
But they are good at sit coms, movies and trophies

It is sad to see the same trophy awarded race to race.
And yes, it is ugly but considering they propably had practically nowhere to go if they had to incorporate the company logo and color it is no surprise.

yea, it stinks. it is like something you'll hand out after a corporate team-building gathering of sorts. Sounds like the trophy was an outcome of a design competition among college students, but the rules may have required blending of the corporate logo. Well, they certainly know what they are doing a lot better than their corporate team, Ferrari, I would say...
Banco Santander Advertising & Sponsorships Head Enrique Arribas said, “In Formula One, we are sponsoring circuits, teams and drivers because the driver is an excellent asset to connect with the customer. The circuit is a message of supporting the country. The team is how we can manage the emotional assets around the sponsorship, but the driver allows us to connect with the customers and to develop commercial promotions.” (link)
this is the new cash starved F1 global marketing and branding strategy - if you are willing to sponsor a race/team/driver, anything goes. These guys have a lot more influence in what happens in F1 than what we see at the surface...

When Santander paid Kimi out of Alonso's way, they get a Sontander nickname in Finland. (Sontander would be in English Craptander).

Nope, I do the same. TV on in the warm up lap and TV off during the cooling down lap. The akward podium is the last thing I want to see. Plastic trophies, tv-screen flags and an interview. It is utter rubbish.

My issue is not so much that a sponsor is on the trophy but that they are so cheap. The sponsor's logo is plastered all over the podium anyway, why do they need the trophy to be a logo as well?
because of this (unfortunately):

While the pegasus is indeed from Mobil 1's logo, I think most people don't associate it with Mobil 1, as this is more familiar to them.
And that is something modern trophies are missing. Looking at some (all?) Santander-sponsored trophies... They're nothing but the company's logo.

One trophy I've always loved has been the Japanese GP trophy. I assume partly because I always assciate with Häkkinen's title clinching wins in '98 & '99. Plus it's a personal-looking trophy, I know immediately which race it is.
The Fuji Television logos never bothered me. And I think it remained pretty distinctive even when Fuji-TV sponsorship ended, the disign is still pretty similar:

Hamilton, appearing on the BBC after his British GP win, queried (with his usual endearing lack of tact) where the proper trophy was. As I recall, the actual trophy is presented to the winner afterwards and Hamilton had it with him when he was interviewed on the BBC Forum, it's just that the plastic bric-a-brac one is used for the podium ceremony because, presumably, it looks better in the race sponsor's and FOM's opinion.
