Is it worth having an "in other news" thread for stories that aren't big stories? Some posts last 4-5 comments and disappear.

Just seen a story about Toto Wolff busting his arm, not worth a thread IMO but some may find it interesting... Thoughts...

@MercedesAMGF1: A bit of a carambolage during yesterday's bike ride resulted in a fractured shoulder, collar bone, elbow and wrist...”

I heard Seb is taking legal steps against a reporter who took areal photographs of his home.

I'll update with a link later.

Ah, a perfect thread for this non-story (which I found quite amusing)

http://www.gpupdate....lo-and-ferrari/

Niki Lauda has apologised to Ferrari President Luca di Montezemolo after his rather blunt description of the team's 2014 Formula 1 car.
In an interview with Spanish newspaper El País over the German Grand Prix weekend, Lauda branded the Maranello team's F 14 T as "s**t" and he also said the same about the McLaren MP4-29.
It is not clear if he has yet spoken to McLaren CEO Ron Dennis or anyone else at McLaren to make a similar apology.

When I read that my first thought was "Surely Lauda said something as bad when he was at Ferrari in the 90s?"

Good idea

This thread could be useful.

Why should he apologize? It's an accurate description.

Well, it's 4th out of 11. It might not be ****, but it sure ain't great.  I presume Nikki will confirm Mercedes previous F1 cars were ****.

He apologised, rather unnecessarily IMHO.

Here's another one for not worth a thread:  Is Lewis better than Nico?  How do we think Marco Mattiacci is doing so far?

Can't say I notice that Domenicali or Whitmarsh or gone. Though it probably takes more time for the impact to show itself.

I think Mattiacci looks as if he has gained weight since he got the job.

i see the OP's point, but just to represent the opposite point for argument's sake...isn't one of the key functions of a forum that popular topics get floated to the top?  if people want to talk about a certain story, it will stay on the front page of the forum, if not it will naturally move downwards and shuffle off to the forum afterlifee.  if autosport has deemed a story worthy of publication, i'd say it's worthy of its own thread.  excessive moderation (closing) of relevant topics isn't needed when a forum will self-moderate itself by keeping popular topics going.  if something's really important, there's always the sticky function, which i think is used well here.

Paddy Lowe has blamed Toto for the crash: "I had the cycling line. These young cyclists are too impatient"  :p

This thread is pointless  unless a mod makes it pinned as it will get lost,

then know one will know.

I agree with others.  I'd rather have short-lived threads than need to check this thread for something interesting every time I come on.

Yeah, if you got the line you got the line.. It's not rocket science.
5 place grid penalty for causing an avoidable accident Toto

Oh dear, we're back to the "opening a new thread is a cardinal sin" attitude on here.

Individual stories should have individual threads - they live or die by their popularity

Can't wait to trawl through all the responses on topics not worthy of their own thread to find a reply to the one topic that interests me...

This started as a question in paddock club, I came back and found it moved to racing comments....

Who knew that Mercedes intra-team rivalry would result in a crash?

The irony is that I never notice a thread if its sticky

Sounds more like a team-demolishing exercise.

Same reason Frijns was Caterham reserve. There are no better options available, at least not without paying serious money.

IMHO, the Schumacher accident isn't worthy of a thread.

Umm...it was pretty big news man...

The fact it has seventy odd pages suggests it probably is as well.

After much thought and discussion it has been decided this thread goes against what the forum should be, Individual threads will die or float depending upon how interesting people find the topic.
