I think Wil/Bot will defeat Merc on speed later this year.

If he challenges Merc/Ros in the right race then that should be enough. Lewis is in a limbo and might start receiving reliability penalties sooner than the competition. Felipe is also going towards support pilot category.

then he didnt follow as my advice also was to be consistent.

To be consistent you have to have a rigid set of rules in order to stick to them. Problem with that is that racing drivers tend to not follow a predefined set of rules as to how and where they have accidents/breakdowns.
Maybe you would like to give us a clue as to a suitable set of rules to cover all eventualities - if you miss anything out then there also has to a rule to handle that case.

Great session until Mercedes pressed the "magic" button and used up half of the extra second they always have in reserve. For a moment there I thought we might have had another surprise pole.

Bottas almost a second faster than his teammate  :drunk:

I see him easily 3rd in the WDC at this rate.

Lucky for Hamilton that his engine let go in qualifying. He will still score good points tomorrow, but had his engine lasted a little longer and he'd put it on pole, then it would fail in the race and he would score nothing.

With luck like that the championship is his for sure.

I am almost afraid to say it, but Bianchi is turning me into a believer...

Beating Raikkonen in Q1... wow...

Only if Rosberg had less luck than Hamilton which he quite hasn't had so far (MEL, MON, HOC, HUN vs. SIL). So, Hamilton won't win this WDC, as he never had luck (2007, 2012, 2014).

And Rosberg is strong, really strong. Ask your fan object who got buried by Rosberg.

Or, if you have less luck, then you urgently need a slouch as a teammate (you know, someone who dropped from 1st to 3rd in driver standings within the last 3 or 4 races of the season (2010) although having no mechanical issues or mechanical DNFs within that period... from 1st to 3rd: never happend for ages before 2010... such a slouch was that teammate).

Such luck, meaning only having such a slouchy teammate, Hamilton does not have either.

And now, you can continue to write about "luck".

 wow

Actually Lewis IS probably thinking the same thing himself at this point. That happened on lap 1 of the race and it would be worse by far.

According to Bianchi himself, he thinks that Ferrari didn't realize that he messed up his first timed lap. Is he genius, or did he simply mess up his qualifying and got lucky? In any case the error was Ferraris to not sending out Kimi. Kimi himself asked the team several times about it.

Ferrari needs a person again that is able to make correct tactical decisions, be that in qualifying or the race. To many points and possibly a WDC lost because of the lack of it.

No wow, At that rate, Lewis will run out of fresh engines and gearboxes soon. Which will incur extra penalties.

The fact that it happens at all is what's unlucky about it, not timing of it. Timing only accounts for a few points here at the Hungaroring, as, let's be realistic, Lewis will be lucky anyway to finish in the points tomorrow.

The fact that it doesn't happen to Nico at all, that's what unlucky about it.

Nico has had failures. not as many as lewis though. anyway mentioning the fact it could easily have been even worse is not something to criticise. Lewis gets 3rd or 4th or such tomorrow then it will be important.

Another qualifying shambles for Hamilton, then for reasons beyond his control. It's kinda hard to qualify in a bonfire. It meant that Rosberg once again gets a relatively easy run to pole with Hamilton out of the picture and a much easier time of it in the race as well with Hamilton buried back in the pack. Surely it will soon be time for Rosberg to begin experiencing some of these Merc reliability issues. At least I'm sure that's what Lewis is hoping for at this point...

I predict 4th if he does not have any problems or get hit.

How is he going to get past Williams (1 at least), McLaren, Force India and Ferrari?

You are expecting miracles. 21st to 4th in Hungary is the equivalent from starting last and winning a GP where it is easier to overtake (Canada, China, etc.).

Jenson won from 14th in 2006 but it required rain, safety cars and the leaders DNFing, most of these things I do not see happening tomorrow.

Lucky to finish in the points?  Has anyone seen the Merc car this season?  A dominant fast car "with a magic button" as someone above put it gives you lots of flexibility and strategy options.  This track is tricky but it's not Monaco, overtaking is possible.  Especially during different stages of tyre wear..

I don't know where he will finish, but it'll probably be higher than expected.  As long as he keeps his nose clean and has no contact or car damage, or extra stops due to wing changes.

Who cares about this season? We are in Hungary here, Mercedes has a mighty one lap pace, but it's much tighter in terms of race pace, as FP2 indicated. Besides, you need a tremendous advantage to overtake here, which he has over the bottom midfielders, but not over Ferrari, McLaren or Williams. Even Force India could prove impossible to pass given their straight line speed.

Booo Maldo's car didn't do anything. I missed the session due to a party, so it was surprising to hear about Lewis' problem but not Kimi's.

The only reason it ever looked like it wasn't going to be a Rosberg pole was because Rosberg hadn't been out for his final run yet (plus the track and their confidence in it was evolving each lap).  Pretty much every single driver was improving massively through Q3.
