If he was running out of fuel he felt it on the last lap.

Pretty entertaining race. So that's the tenth different winner this year? Any prediction of how many we'll have had by season's end?

Masterly performance from the Alain Prost of the South Pacific.

Proper description, right there.

I would put my money on 13.

I've failed. Sorry Ovdrone.

You had a hat-trick, dude. Better a win for the Cold Kiwi than the Trophybreaker.

I'm not a Dixon fan and possibly a hater of his team owner, but that was magical how the Dix came from last, conserved fuel and was still fastest.  NBC didn't really follow how he got the lead during the last set of stops.

I am pleased that the Bassman beat the politician for second.

Much great wheel-to-wheel (literally) racing!

Another entertaining race, thank-you Indycar.

To paraphrase meatloaf 3 out of 4 ain't bad.

Entertaining race. Congrats to Dixon. Apologies to everyone I jinxed.

Edit: spelling.

Power style?

Scott Dixon - last to first in a car that's not clearly the star of the field. Teaching F1 folks how it's done properly ;)

I never understood Indycar math and I never will. This coming from a dude who studies Biophysics and had lectures in quantum mechanics. It is unreal.

And I never knew that **** either. So I am basically lost in this.

IndyChaos is better than IndyCar.

Wheelbanging at buck fifty +  is crazy enough, and even then...you have flying crewmen, four dimensional strategies, and flat out rolls of the dice on the track and in the pit box.

In ugly ass cars.

So bizarre it's fun...

Considering Mike Hull was factoring the chance of a lunar eclipse into Dixon's strategy this race, you may not be too far off with this one. :p

Still trying to figure out how how the hell Dixie won that race...  felt bad for Newgarten- was kind of rooting for Sarah and Josef...

Still miss Road America-  was there last weekend for a SCCA race and regretted we weren't coming back again as spectators for an Indycar race!   The locals there say everyone wants Indycar back, but scheduling seems to be the issue.

It's CRAZY the season is ending Labor Day weekendx-  we are all capable of watching both football and racing, that's what DVR's are for!!

Well, it was the first time I saw an Indycar race more "seriously", and it was kinda fun, i´m still getting to know the names (except from the ones who came from F1 that I already know) and Scott Dixon certainly looked impressive, of course. There were some good fights and good overtakes too the race was good. I´m also keeping an eye on Carlos Munoz, since he is rookie he looked impressive.

There is one thing that pisses me off, but that is common to all American sports, so much advertising. Sometimes with all those ads it gets more difficult to follow the action.

Some channels didn't show ad breaks and just follow the cars around without commentary. Unfortunately ESPN UK wasn't one of them.

RHR, basically. The pit speed violation took him out of what was at minimum a podium, and chucking it off the road gave Dixon the chance to cycle to the front under yellow.

There's that, although Dixon's lap times in the first half of the race were fast as well. Mid-Ohio is his best track after all. :p

The commentators did say that Dixon was going well. It was still a surprise to see him at the front.

A very entertaining race from beginning (Hinch ... wtf are U doing???) to the end (Dixon running on fumes). SeaBass said it best in his post-race ..... "Not strategy, Dixon and Target were the class of the field." (not an exact quote, but it catches his meaning I think). Mid-Ohio demonstrated much of what there is to like in this series, and very little of the negatives.

I must admit that there are lot of Indycar races where because of pit stops and yellow flags I'm left completely and utterly confused as to how someone managed to get to the front of the race, and totally bemused that they won it.  For some reason, this wasn't one of them, maybe because it effectively happened in that one stop/move (and lunar eclipse).

i started watching indy car in 2013 thanks to a guy on youtube who puts up full races and cuts out the adverts. i think that adverts are unacceptable in a motor race where things can change in half a second and especialy when its on a pay tv network, it must suck to be a die hard us racing fan sitting through adverts.

i really like the close wheel to wheel racing in indycar and the onboard sound. enjoyed last race HInchcliffs start was insane and lucky! 10 diferent winners this season is great is that a record. the only downside to indycar is too many cautions making strategy luck and also some of the drivers like power or rhr are idiots sometimes on the track and never admit mistake in an accident with other drivers.

I didn't comment at the time but I was extremely annoyed at one point in the race where we were watching an overtake happen on screen and the commentator was too busy plugging some produce/other TV programme. Their job is to describe what is happening on the screen and other aspects of the race. As a result the whole time that the overtake was happening I was thinking, "Shut up and pay attention!"

You guys would have really been annoyed in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s when you had to wait at least one week (most times more, if at all) before ABC Wide World of Sports or NBC Sports World would show a truncated version that was interspersed with figure skating, track and field or underwater basket weaving. I'm sure glad that Competition Press & Autoweek, National Speed Sport News and On Track were delivered to my home so I knew what happened in detail any given race weekend, as there was no instant news via internet.

There are many things that I don't like about most race coverages, but knowing what it once was coverage-wise makes me realize how fortunate I am to be able to see darn near any race in Formula 1 and Indycar live at anytime it occurs, anywhere in the world. To me, that is not a bad thing at all, and something to be rather grateful for. When I get to the point that each and every thing about something that I supposedy enjoy causes me so much consternation on a regular basis, I think the wise thing might be to walk away from it for nothing more than peace of mind.

Gotta pay the bills somehow. Plus, how often have you missed something? Even when SPEED was throwing commercial breaks every 5-6 laps back in the day for F1, you never missed anything of importance.

Only issue I've ever had is those stupid Honda commercials with Mario Andretti. Guy is a bad actor paired with more bad actors in poorly written commercials. Honda; all it takes to sell your cars in one thing. Boobs! Place a cute lady or two (twins?) and even racing fans will be more attentive to watch than seeing an actor pretending to freak out in the 2-seater.

Ads are a reality of television...always have been.

What I object to is promoting a program, like INDYCAR, while the genuine article is taking place live on the very channel you are tuned to..

Breaking away for an ad about something you are already watching is ridiculous .

I'll echo what Brian said.

We lucky now.

A person complained on this forum once about the BBC showing the F1 Friday practice on the red button instead of live because Wimbledon was on. Friday practice? Friday practice? I remember growing up in Oz the excitement of the Australian grand prix because it was the one race of the year I could watch qualifying (only Saturday qualifying though, Friday qualifying was shown as highlights past midnight). Kids these days have it to easy, in my day i couldn't afford shoes, had to walk uphill both ways to get to school etc etc etc

In other exciting news, I'm getting my BT package upgraded tomorrow so I will have ESPN on my tv box, meaning I can now record the indycar races instead of missing them and searching for a youtube clip a few days later (with JP's help usually).
