Having placed an Elfin entry for Sandown 1962 or 63, former Austin Healey Sprite racer John McDonald went to the Elfin factory in Adelaide to collect his entered 275WR ( ie 1100cc), there asking Garry Cooper about his car . Garry pointed to the rack of tubes and said "your car 's there". They got it built, in time for Sandown, using indeed one of those engines mentioned in James' press clipping above-- though this turned out to be a secondhand "Junior" engine from the UK, which turned out to be 1340cc.

I run my Elfin rarely, occupied with other toys. It is a lovely thing, even when surviving an incredibly dusty trip to Mallala. Arising from its trip to Mallala came various photos, including one period pic showing it with what appears to be a downdraught/ semi-downdraught head, vaguely similar to what it has now but previously unknown to me. Any information out there about this? This car, a Catalina chassis 626, was entered by owner Vern White driver Mike Fenwick 1965 to 1968, variously engined, until sold  by Vern White then disappeared until I found it 1970s.

The dust turned to sand by the time we arrived at Tailem Bend!

Here's another shot by our Mr Lemm from Mallala.

It is interesting that this thread started about a front engined car built by the Emerysons in the UK'

The first 20 posts were on target.

Then the thread gets hijacked about the Australian Garrie Cooper built rear engined Elfin FJ's.

The next 30 posts are about that and NOT the title of the thread

Perhaps later posters have not read the very start of the thread.
