Pre-season he said it won't be a problem.
I have no doubts that they won't get as much help to get the absolute best out of the engine, but it will not be a huge loss of performance and does not account for their poor showing. I'll repeat what I said before, the car is the problem not the engine.
But now they're actually into the season and they've seen what's going on it's a different story.
There is an excellent article in this months Racecar Engineering which covers what it is wrong with the car. It includes the part from Neale I mentioned earlier and the broad conclusion is that that car is lacking downforce and, due to the Honda situation coupled with McLaren being the only Mercedes team to not be running Petronas fuels they probably don't have maps as good as the others so they could be losing power as well.
Anyway this is going right off topic as the thread is supposed to be about the Mercedes car.
