I really think Williams can nick this one. Let's just hope for a cracking race with lots of proper battles.
I also can't wait to see the top speed that these guys will hit down the straights..surely they'll approach 360kph? And will Eau Rouge, Blanchimont and Pouhon be any more challenging with these engines?

Hope Kimi comes good.
Hope Vettel bites back.
Hope Hamilton asserts himself.
Hope Massa keeps it clean.
If Eau Rouge is still flat, I wonder if they can make up the time loss from S2 in 1&3 and get close to last era times.
Also, the weather suggests it's going to be somewhat mild. Mid teens °C / low 60s °F

Rosberg misses the braking point at La Source and takes out Hamilton and Vettel.
Back Gutierrez takes out his teammate and both Lotus.
Only 8 cars make it to the end, Ricciardo wins and Kobayashi gets Caterham some big points and a new contract with someone for 2015.

Spa-Francochamps is the best venue for ending the summer break. Bring it.

We now have fuel flow limiters, so it's all good

They got closer to the podium than McLaren did all year though.
Yeah, yeah, old joke, I know.

I think Williams have a great chance here. So hoping for dry conditions even though a wet race at Spa might be cool. But Williams would be hurt a lot by rain.

Rain is a very big possibility this year.
So far august in Belgium has never been wetter than this year.

I just can't wait. Summer break is painful.
I think there will be a close battle between the Mercs and the Williams if it stays dry for all the sessions (unlikely).
Also Eau Rouge could be mega this year, according to Lewis it won't be flatout so we could see some interesting skills down there.

Lewis said that? That's great to hear. They'll approach the corner around 20-30kph faster than they were last year given the increased power of these engines so it's great to hear that it won't be flat

Will we have Lewis v Nico at Eau Rouge in a similar style to Webber v Alonso a couple of years back....

They should start the DRS zone at the bottom of Eau Rouge!
I wonder if anyone has changed their gear ratio?

Excited for the Mercedes Vs Williams battle.
#24
Posted 17 August 2014 - 19:38
I was going to reply to this suggesting there is little battle, but then I remembered back to a side-by-side of Bottas and Rosberg from Hockenheim Q. The Williams ate up the Mercedes in a straight line. Hockenheim is more similar to Spa than Austria is whereby you still need some downforce for the corners, and so the inherent nature of the Williams may give them a boost. The cold temps may also play into Williams hands as they seem to work the tyres very hard.Excited for the Mercedes Vs Williams battle.
Going to be close!

Will the so called "spa master" live up to his name? Or will he be upstaged by El Mariachi yet again?
I don't think Antonio Banderas will be racing.

Are the FI cars still good on fast tracks or is that design philosophy behind them already?

They'll sit in the pits until it dries out enough to run full slicks
#35

Williams should have a real chance of winning the next 2 races.
I'm not sure what RBR will produce. We always expect Spa will hinder them but they always go well there. Hopefully they and Renault have big upgrades

We'll see. This is typically a good track for Kimi and Alonso has never been super strong at Spa.

Dry Spa races tend to be boring and we're likely not gonna have four classic Grands Prix in a row so a dull race is long overdue anyways.
I expect a nice, long Sunday afternoon nap (and a Kimi win, please)

Finally GP week and the end of the summer shutdown (I can come out of hibernation now, I have been trying to avoid these boards a bit as with the shutdown there was no news except rehashed or made-up to suit whatever media outlet needed a story, and oh my god is it boring without my F1 fix)
Great race to kick off the 2nd part of the season, I love Spa!
Expecting the Merc engine teams to go well at the next 2 races although will be interesting to see if anyone has been able to make a significant step over any of their rivals during the enforced break - are the engine factories also made to close??? (maybe a question for the stupid question thread?)
A dry weather forecast is almost meaningless at Spa, especially this far away from the race.
