I'm looking for information about Dick Daniel, of Riverside, CA, who raced a Lotus 23B at the 1984 Monterey Historics.

 

On SSDI, there is a Richard R. Daniel showing as having died in 2010 in Riverside, CA - could be the same guy?

 

If anyone knows anything about him, perhaps the names of any good friends of his or clubs he was in at the time, I'd be very grateful to hear of it.

Thanks Anton! Looking to trace someone who might know a little about his car and where it came from, as he didn't appear in any other Monterey Historics.

Thanks Anton, that is the car I am looking at. I currently have a gap in confirmed ownership between Hal Brown from Lethbridge, Alberta in Canada in 1968 (although it is believed Jack Venier of Winnipeg, Canada may have bought the car from Brown) and Dick Daniel in 1984. I am trying to fill in the gaps. As I said, Dick Daniel did just the one Monterey with this car (1984), then he sold it to Rug Cunningham. I understand they were good friends. Unfortunately, Rug died in 2007 so is no longer around to ask and I'm not sure if Dick Daniel is still with us either. I'm looking for the identity of the owner before Dick Daniel.

 

Looking at the Phil Conte car, which he raced between 1981 and 1983 at Monterey, that is a possible candidate, as the histories do not overlap. Unfortunately, Phil died Feb 3rd this year...so can't ask him. I understand he was quite close to John Morton, so I might ask him. Think Tony A2Z also drove for Conte too.
