Tyre heating up probles expected, again, according to Davidson. What a joke those Pirelli's are...
#3
Posted 22 August 2014 - 08:13
Er, you do realise don't you that the track temp is barely even 20 degrees. It's hardly a shock that the tyres might struggle to heat up in those temps. It's not like it's 40+ degrees.......

Eau Rouge isnt flat then. Button didnt take it flat me thinks. From the sound of the engine.

I was too distracted by the ongoing babble about Lewis and Nico to notice.

So at least both Mclarens didnt take Eau Rouge flat out.

08:22 More Eau Rouge observations: "The McLarens, Mercs, Red Bulls and Williams are all flat through Eau Rouge now, but McLaren needs a bit of bravery. Others still requiring a confidence lift as they work up to it."

Posted 22 August 2014 - 08:25
Err - probably not a good idea to risk writing the car off by attempting Eau Rouge flat on hard tyre on a dirty track at the start of FP1

Hamilton struggling?
Did he make a competitive run? Spa is long enough to drive one sector just slow, for testing parts, braking points.. I wouldn't read much into FP1. Lotterer off the pace, as it seems, but who thought otherwise, he would be a genius if he would be challenge his teammate right away.

Why is the TV feed cutting away from the onboard cam almost every time a car is approaching Eau Rouge, preferably to some old fart in the pits?!

09:10 Raikkonen's engineer has reported temperature problems with the ERS on the Finn's car."
Already! The other car is fine, as usual.
When is Ferrari going to sort this out?

Kimi is back out on track, it didn't seem to cost him too much time relative to Alonso
#32
Posted 22 August 2014 - 09:21
Do Williams ever show their hand in FP1?
#33
Posted 22 August 2014 - 09:21
I've said it before. Maybe Eau Rouge should be tightened? Nothing major, but just bring the right hander out a couple of metres at the apex. Just enough that you have to lift.

"09:10 Raikkonen heads back to the pits after a stint of battling with his Ferrari. He's currently fifth quickest, albeit more than a second slower than Alonso (who is third fastest).

Williams won't get close to Mercedes. Let's face it, the only time they've been distinctly close to them is Austria, basically because it's a track full of straights and slow speed corners. Aerodynamic performance in the high speed stuff is their weakness, and that will give Mercedes a buffer at Spa.

Vettel out with problem?

Its depressing for Vettel with his reliability this season. Engine issues.

I didn't say anything about challenging Mercedes. But 10th and 14th is not what we'd expect.

I assumed that when you said "very fast" you implied them challenging Mercedes. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

If I understood well from sky they said they sent him out without changing or fixing anything. They just wanted to test some new parts.
