The main race at the 1962 Eastern Counties Motor Club Snetterton 100 Trophy Meeting was held for Formula Juniors. The winner of the 37 lap race was Reg Brown in a Lotus 22 entered by the Murkett Brothers. Could anyone tell me more about this gentleman and is he still with us?

I think he was (for a while, at least) a Lotus distributor. I have R.B. Brown (Racing) Ltd of Wisbech advertising in Sports Car Sept 61 p229.

R.B. Brown was also an early customer for a Lotus 22, taking delivery in March 1962 of a car in British Racing Green.

As to whether he is still with us, I'm sorry I have no idea.

He seems to have raced in Formula Junior in 1961 (Lotus 20 and on one occasion an 18) and in 1962 in a 22.  In 1961 he was entered in his own name, in 62 by Murkett Brothers.  He raced almost exclusively in smaller events at Silverstone and Snetterton,

Many thanks for your replies. I have heard from Duncan Rabagliati the car was chassis number 22-J-10 and is currently owned by Paul Smeeth.

I am pleased to say that today I had the pleasure of meeting Reg Brown, along with his Son & Daughter-in-law. At the age of 87 he is in reasonable health but he does have problems and it is only fair to state that all contact is via his son; which is the way it should be. Reg started racing in 1959 in a Lotus XI (UVB 648), he then owned an 18 but never raced it, two 20's and then the Lotus 22 now owned by Paul Smeeth. As well as these he raced a Vauxhall VX 4/90 (RB 1000) and an open top XK 120, he gave up racing in 1962.

Sadly all of Reg's cups, trophies and photos were stolen many years ago when his house was broken into, hopefully in time I can replace some of the photos for him.

Thank you to everyone who helped point me in the right direction.

I believe this is Brown (#35) at the 1962 Scott-Brown Trophy at Snetterton:

Hmmn, that is not the number I have as being sold to R.B. Brown Racing on 25/03/1962 according to the Lotus sales records. Maybe a transcription error, either on my side or Duncan's?
