I expect Merc to have the pace for an easy 1-2 but who knows how they can screw their race. This is probably Williams' best chance to win of the remaining races, but yeah, Mercs must fail for that. So, it's up to Massa to win a race for Williams this year, no Finn has won a GP in Italy. That's also relieving news for Lewis as the Finnish citizen Nico should have no chance for winning.

RBR and Ferrari are question marks, both exceeded the expectations at Spa, another high-speed track.

1-2 for Mercedes with Rosberg edging it.

Wondering if Williams have already changed their gear ratio once this season.
Could be very interesting if they are going for a maximum speed set-up from Monza only, sacrificing the performance in the upcoming street circuits.

I'll go ahead and say that it's now in the script for KR to win this one. :p

Another race where Ricciardo continues to eat into the Merc drivers' point advantage would be fine by me. But then I would say that, since I put a tenner on him to win the championship. ;)

One the classic GPs, looking forward to a classic race. The Mercs should dominate, but they seem to be rather adept at snapping defeat from the jaws of victory. Hoping this time a Ferrari will be the beneficiary. Either Kimi or Fernando will do just fine. If not a Ferrari, a Bottas victory would be nice. What better place to score your first win?

We will have good noise again because they will go up to 13k-14k rpm on 8th gear and we will discover that the sound/noise solution is simple, just keep on increasing the fuel flow limit until the max rpm.

Tricky first corner, so anything is possible, and not only between the Merc duo.

Fully expecting the wheels to come completely off the merc wagon.
Red Bull will not be able to keep up here. No corners.
Bottas for the win

If anything happens between the Mercedes duo imo Seb has a good chance winning this. Can't wait for it.  :D

I wouldn't write off Red Bull. Look what Vettel did last year. He won this race by being super fast coming out of the corners and using Red Bull's superior traction. Good chance we might see that again...

They weren't down by a huge chunk of HP last year either, though.

We'll see.

I can see the heavy braking zones cause problems for Mercedes. At least for the one with #44 on it.

What I always find spectacular around Monza is when it is late enough in the season for leaves to drift around the track. A F1 car braking for the Variante della Roggia, with a trail of nature behind it. Fantastic!

Anyone know what the weather forecast is?

I'm expecting one Mercedes to have some damage in the race but not from the other....

The dash from the start into the 1st chicane is probably where the damage will occur....if both Mercs are on the front row, Merc management will be on tenterhooks

Mercedes probably better 'fix' Lewis's car so he doesn't start from front row alongside Nico, ensuring he doesn't get taken off on 1st lap....

Hamilton is supposed to be good in heavy braking, but that's also the easiest thing to mess up in qualifying if your head's not together, so it should be interesting.

A question as you seem to have a good grip on the English language. Should it be Freds or Fred's?

I don't think so, just McLaren and Red Bull that I have seen technical reports for so far.

Anyone know what the weather forecast is.

When I first checked out the 10 day forecast it was for sun and clear skies - its slowly got worse since then and there looks to be rain in the area (even if the forecast still predicts it to be dry - put it this way I'm taking my coat :( (oh and every time I have been to watch F1 cars it has rained at some point whilst I have been there) http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/3173435

Edit: Maybe this is a better forecast as its for the circuit as opposed to Milan (although the forecast looks worse with thundery showers on both Sat and Sun around qualifying and race time) https://www.meteoblu...ale-monza?day=5

fred's. it's his face, so the apostrophe denotes ownership of the following word. fred's garage. fred's bicycle etc.

As a Hammy fan I'll say.... 'He attempts to take Nico out and they BOTH DNF.'.... Rikki wins the race.

Thanks, I figure Freds would be used to describe plural, as if there where several of him.

This could be an interesting race, perhaps constrained only by the fixed gear ratios. It'll be nice to see these new engines come up against the long straights of Monza.

Eh... if it is a possessive 's', you get an apostrophe. So it's Fred's, providing you talk about 'Fred's moustache'. When you talk 'Fred' in the plural sense: 'We had two Freds in the class last year', there is no apostrophe.

I hope I am right. Damn my sig!

I don't understand, is this Monza? I don't remember that part of the track having such a steep incline, whats with all the houses, is that new?

Big question with Kimi back at Ferrari, will he downshift and break at the same time, watch out for the wall on the right Kimi!

With the new paved area in the last turn I am dyeing to see how much of it Vettel uses and if Riciardo goes faster even when using less of the run off.  Kind of a bad sign for Vettel.

In past years I too have been nervous about Lewis at the start of some races, but I learned rather quickly, Lewis knows what he is doing, its the total race not the particulars that matter for him and his speed.
