I'm not sure if this really warrants a thread of its own and it's not directly about racing but did anyone else notice, in yesterday's Italian Grand Prix, that the fire marshals at the exit of the Varianti Ascari were in an Alfa 75?

Women for Wheels still have a 71 Holden traytop that is used for fire and rescue at racemeetings. And it was bought new!  It has even been to the Melbourne GP. They also have a 90s Toyota Hilux unit.

Really this is not unusual, specialised vehicles that do very few km and are well maintained and housed last a long time.

I saw an Alfa 156 fire marshal's car in the pits at Monza after the GP too, and I think I glimpsed Monza's Ferrari 348 quick response car at the back of the grid behind the medical car at the start, which has been on the grid at most GP's for 20 odd years I think!

I'm guessing that Silverstone's Jag XJ6 fire tender is long gone...?

Edit:  The 348 was gifted by Gerhard Berger to the CEA as a thankyou for saving his life at Imola in '89, according to internet reports.

Oh, yes.
