Yep, looking forward to it. Will fly out to Singapore this Friday from New Zealand, and watch the GP from the Bay Grandstand.

It’s been a long time since I last went to a GP… back in 2003 in Melbourne.

Which hotel will you be staying at? I'm interested in team corporate events, especially Merc, whereby LH and ROS would turn up at a mall and say hi to the fans. Does anyone know of any such timetable or schedule?

Just won some tickets to the Thursday Pitlane experience, can't wait guys ! I hope to get a selfie with LH though. I understand Merc is due for a major update, which part of the car should i take a photo of? The FW and the rear?

So, for the 4th time this race is an important one for the championship with Lewis still being in the hunt.

I'm freakin' shaking.

If LH receives any more unreliability this season I am going to fly a Eurofighter over Brackley/Stuttgart and lay a piece of my mind. Do not care for the consequences

Rosberg has been generally strong around here and beat Hamilton in qualifying by nearly 4 tenths last year.

That said, I wouldn't count Hamilton out by a long shot. He seems to be in the right mind-set now. And Hamilton in the right state of mind is a tough competitor.

Didnt Lewis have a cracked chassis from Monza 2013? Btw, Hamilton has actually won this race, Rosberg hasn't  ;)

well the climate is very equatorial and consistent, thus the convective heat builds up during the day, and every 2-3 days there is a mid-afternoon storm that rebalances the atmosphere. By the evening this is usually cleared up, especially at this time of year. The downpours are so timely that you can almost set your watch by them.

If it was a normal daytime race, we would have had a couple of wet ones by now I think.

I think our local weather agency does some sort of cloud seeding to make the rain clouds go away. It usually does not rain when we have our independence day parade and during the F1 weekend. Singapore is a wider Monaco though, so overtaking should be some what easier but still hard.

Why? Seeing F1 cars in the wet is so much cooler than in the dry. I'll be happy to get wet clothes for the extra spectacle you get.

Still 61 laps... Race pace will be well into the 1:50s. Gonna be tight if we get the odd safety car.

The cars generally seem a bit slower this year (I think), so I expect we'll need less SC laps to get to the 2 hour time limit this time around. My gut feeling (based on nothing at all) is we'll end up with about 50 laps rather than the scheduled 61 (oh and I REALLY hope we don't get a late race SC with lapped cars in the way, as with delta times and it being a long track timewise and them insisting that all cars have to be in order and in the 'snake' before they go racing, that aspect alone will likely add a good 3 laps or so of SC)

I wonder if FOM will bother with the lap count this time or will they just accept the race distance will not be completed and just go with the timer from the start.

Pretty sure every year they've said it is going to rain for the race, and it never does. Maybe one year they might actually be right. :p

Although hopefully not this year, as Mercedes seems even more dominant in the wet than it is in the dry.

The power tracks are finally over and Redbull got a win and a double points top 6 finish?  Umm what?  That's better than they did in the championship winning years of 2010, 2011 etc.

Question is, how much closer will they be in the next few.  Close enough to challenge Merc under the right circumstances, or ahead of the others etc.

Championship fight?  Every race is important and has been since the first race.  Here's hoping it stays alive every race from now until the end.

Kimi fans.. brace yourself.. it's not his best track. :p

Great pics by OP.  One of the better newer tracks on the calender.

I agree this will be Red Bull's best track so far, but I don't believe they will have the pace to beat Mercedes on merit. I'm thinking they'll be three, four tenths back in qualifying assuming it's dry.

Wasn't Räikkönen on for a very good grid slot here a few years ago before he bounced off? Anyway I don't expect him to be able to match Alonso's race-pace here.

One of (if not) my favourite tracks on the calendar, I don't know why exactly, it's not even conducive for over taking, and Hamilton seems to always have a bad one, but it's just amazingly beautiful to look at, and the cars are brilliant when they dance under the lights. I'm excited already.

My perception has always been that the race organisers have always thought "yeah, we know there is a two hour limit, but if it goes to two hours 3 minutes, that is fine"...

This is my favourite part of the year if there's a title battle on. Singapore always has a part to play in the title story - it's a proper Grand Prix on a proper street circuit. While Valencia and Sochi devalue the meaning of a street circuit, Singapore defends it.

Bloody difficult as well. 23 turns (more like 18 in reality, few boring kinks), hot and super humid. Probably the biggest test on the calendar. I think we'll see possibly the biggest deficit of lap time from last year to this. I can only really think of 2 straights. After seeing Red Bulls performance in Italy (not too bad), I hope they throw everything at Singapore.

A perfect lap here is very difficult, such is the length of the track, so maybe we'll see something special!

I'm not sure about Singapore to be honest. I respect the enormous physical challenge it places upon the drivers, but I don't think we've ever had a race here you could describe as gripping. 2010 was tense though, and it often seems to be a significant weekend so I'm looking forward to it!

With the lose of FRIC and the extra special coander thing gone I don’t think Red Bull will be their usual planted self in the corners. With that said, it seems Vettel gets a new car every track so who knows if this new car is just for this track, oohh Adrian.

What I look forward to is the Lewis Hamilton romp. I remember so vividly in 2012 at this time of year Hamilton was on a mission like I had never seen. McLaren finally figured out the rocket ship of a car they had and Hamilton was on for a win, then, something broke. At Austin he was the only driver to pass Vettlel and win. In Brazil another win was in sight and Hulkenberg spun into him as he lead. Lots of opportunities for Lewis this time of year, Monza was a good start.

I thought cloud seeding actually makes the rain come..

I think they seed it before the weekend to make it rain as much as possible..

Anyway, looking forward my home race as well..Missed it for the last 2 years.

Its as humid as Sepang fyi, being just about 300km apart. But Sepang has two long straights for the drivers to cool down.

Alonso has been on the podium at this track 5 out of 6 times and his worst finishing position is 4th. He has also won the race 2 times.

Vettel has won the race 3 times.

These two have formidable records at this track, so it will be quite interesting to see how they perform now given that their car is no longer competing at the front.

Is that why it's been raining so much this week? They really seed the clouds?
And how do people find out about drivers' events? They never publish these details.

Hamilton could have won a second time, if not for Mclaren's incompetence.. Interesting fact, the only winners at SGP, Alonso, Hamilton and Vettel.

Yeah, it just rained, but not heavy though, on the west side of SIngapore. Tracks in the city area.

For either Hamilton or Rosberg the pack being closer might help them in the championship. Cars could get between them so a 1-2 isn't guaranteed, plus they might have to factor the chasing drivers into pit strategies.

I'd like Alonso to win perhaps after taking the lead after a fortunate safety car.

Mercedes are looking to use their gear ratio change for Singapore, so I would suspect that they will not have too much of a challenge from anyone.

Longest race of the calendar. With the slower laptimes this year, this race could well exceed two hours of pure racing.
