Which car racing series/classes do you follow? I bundled sihouette/touring/stock cars because there can be only three questions.

I follow regularly:

  • F1 (interest decreasing)
  • IndyCar (interest increased this year, may become my new favorite series next season)
  • WEC (interest increasing, may surpass F1)
  • GP2 (watch races whenever possible, interest may decrease with F1)

Otherwise I watch sometimes other sports car races but not religiously. Of lower formulae, Macau GP is very much the only race I really care about. I watch sometimes GP3 races but just never watch FR2.5, even though it might be interesting to see.

And there's no touring car series I follow regularly, DTM most likely for occasional viewing. Never been into NASCAR but gonna try to watch some races during the Chase.

Depends what you mean by follow. If you mean watch on TV rather than "I like to keep up to date with the news and race results" then my choices change (as I can't watch some series but I do follow what happens in them).

Any chance of adding a two-wheeled section to the poll?

I mean keeping up to date with the series. Checking news regularly without seeing races is more what I meant than watching randomly some races.

The limited number of poll questions didn't enable that but you can always start a new poll.

Should add bikes !

My priorities are based on time constraints otherwise would probably watch everything spread through following fortnight, its easy enough to avoid British Superbike results, NASCAR results etc.  Never watch football so that saves me a lot of time.

All F1 including practice and qualifying on Sky, same with MotoGp on BT Sport plus whizz through BBC F1 coverage waffle real fast now that Gary Anderson has left.

All GP2 and GP3, just watch start and last 5 laps.

All Moto 2 and Moto 3, just watch start and last 3 laps.

All NASCAR Sprint Cup highlights on ESPN, all Nationwide highlights on Motors.

All BTCC on ITV4, whizz through supports and waffle.

All British Superbikes on EuroSport, whizz through supports and waffle.

All World Superbikes on EuroSport, whizz through supports and waffle.

All Indycar highlights on ESPN.

All V8 Supercars on BT Sport, just watch start and last 5 laps.

Record BlancPain, DTM, WTCC, WRC just whizz through, plus other stuff on Motors or ITV4 like British GT, Ginettas, VW etc.

Don't watch Camping World Trucks now as stopped Premier.

Actually miss Premier for NASCAR will subscribe again when HD otherwise not.

My favorites are NASCAR Nationwide, MotoGP and F1 in no particular order...

I'm starting to follow circuits rather than series nowadays. For example I just can't get excited about watching anything at places like Shanghai, Silverstone or korea. I would like to follow the WEC but the circuits are just tarmac infested. So look towards the United SportsCar and Blancpain championships.

F1 I care about less and less and Indycar I would watch if I had the right tv channel. I watch quite a variety of championships but just when they are at decent circuits.

Lately, I've only been watching MotoGP and Supercross/Motocross.  The last time I watched anything with 4 wheels was GP Canada this year.

In that case if you mean keeping up to date then it's (in no specific order of interest):

F1, GP2, GP3, FR3.5, Indycar, European F3, Macau F3, Formula E, WEC (including Le Mans), USCC, ELMS, V8SC, WTCC, BTCC, DTM, Nascar Sprint Cup and Nascar Nationwide.

F1

Indycar

GP2 not so regularly

Everything on the Sportscar/GT list plus International GT Open (although it must be said, it is by far the worst of the GT series out there), and the Creventic 24 hour series

SuperGT and occasionally DTM too. Keep up with NASCAR Sprint Cup news and results.

Yes, I am a full blown racing addict

I follow F1 pretty obsessively and try to organise my life around it where possible :) . Mostly manage to watch GP2 and GP3 (if not live at least on the rerun) and will watch FR3.5 if I can but don't go out of my way to make time for it really. Very much looking forward to the formula E championship starting, I have been interested in this from the start so will definately be following closely. (ooops, missed that out in the poll)

I've become a big fan of WEC in the past 2 years after seeing the LeMans race in 2012 and getting hooked on it and again will do my best to cancel the rest of my life if there is a race on.

As for the other catagories its a bit like if its on and I have nothing else to do I will watch, if not I'm happy to just look up results and read through the race updates on Autosport live and here including WRC/ERC and Rally-X (which I always think is fun entertainment) but are not in your poll).

Closely, I follow F1, WEC, USC and IndyCar with strong interest in GP2/3, Euro F3, FR3.5, Super Formula, Blancpain Series (Sprint and Endurance), Super GT, DTM, BTCC and British GT. I used to follow the WRC and WTCC very closely but the WRC lost any excitement at the front when Gronholm retired and is intent on killing itself whilst the WTCC lost most of it's draw for me when BMW and Seat scaled back their involvement and left it as a Chevy and now Citreon demonstration run.  All else I either have a passing interest in or none at all.

It's gonna be all change for me next year - to what I don't yet know.

F1 - not a sport anymore

WRC - ditto

FE - not even started, but still not racing

maybe BTCC and WTCC with a bit of WEC

for my open wheels, Indycar......

This year I've seen all the F1 races, most MotoGP and Moto2 races as well as some of the Indycar races, but not much beyond that.

F1 and MotoGP (plus Moto2 and Moto3) most closely. Then NASCAR.

Indy, WSBK, WRC, GP2 and BSB I only follow through new pieces and the tweets that appear on my timeline. And when they interest me enough I look for some Youtube footage.

In the US with the loss of Speed and Speed2 it's harder to follow many series.  F1, IndyCar, NASCAR, & TUSC are easy.  I really like the World Challenge Series racing, and I think they were very smart to open the series to GT3 cars.  Continental Sports Car series (formerly junior Grand-Am, now junior TUSC) is also really fun to watch.  Nice that WEC has great coverage via their website.  V8 Supercars, too.  Wish more series did that.

One look at the poll and I was like, 'YE GODS, LOOK AT ALL THOSE OPTIONS!'

I like to follow and make fun of Indycar most. It's the gift that inadvertently keeps on giving until it decides to hibernate. So very laid back. Such good times. Much wow.

Sportscars then come in at #2. Can't help but follow these a little more seriously based on the pride of some of the marques involved, but they're still great fun. If I had it my way, I'd be streaming a running commentary of a six-hour enduro from somewhere in the world at least every second day of the week. :p

F1 comes in at third. Watching F1 for me these days is sort of like having an existential crisis--I start losing a feel for what's going on as I get buried in superficially philosophical conondrums such as 'What is racing?' and 'Is this racing?' or 'Does it even matter?'. F1 takes itself too seriously and as a result makes me think too much about what I should and shouldn't enjoy when all I really wanted was to watch a few dudes/dudettes casually put their lives on the line in the name of a little fun. The endless sense of self-importance exuded from those who think it's their mission to tell the rest of us mere mortals how their 'insight' about who is the fastest driver should be considered and accepted because x-y-z is also a turn-off--just enjoy the racing, people.

How is it possible that WRC, one of the biggest and most important series/classes in the history of motorsports, is not included in the poll?

The percentages are hugely misleading in polls where multiple options can be selected.

60 out of 61 members (figures correct at time of recording) have selected that they follow F1, yet it's showing only 31% for F1. I know how it arrives at that figure, but it's misleading. Absurd even. So there.

The title of the poll is 'Which car racing series/classes do you follow?' so I guess you could be picky and says its a rally not a race. same as two wheels are not usually cars. But then the title of the thread is what motorsport series do you follow! soo....?? I've kind of disregarded the poll and read the comments! Surprising so many (2 people!) want to add WRC!!! It still exists?!!

Just because 2 people want to have that option added doesn't mean it will only get 2 votes. WRC still has a bigger following then F3, Indy Lights, ELMS, Blancpain, etc. Probably more then WTCC as well.

Regularly:

F1

GP2

GP3

European F3/German F3/Macau

Formula E (I Predict...)

Watch less regularly, but watch for results:

FR3.5

Indycar

BTCC

Yeah, somewhat messed up with the title. Three poll questions restricted this to car racing, yet forgot to change that in the thread title.

Yeah apart from F1, MotoGP is the motorsport I follow most closely.

I used to watch every GP2 race, but the quality of the top GP2 drivers has gone downhill the past few years and it seems FR3.5 and Formula 3 (or even GP3) have drivers who as good if not better.  GP2 is great for finding drivers with lots of money/sponsor backing though, which is an important factor for some of the smaller F1 teams.

I try to watch as much of the 24 hours of Le Mans as I can each year, but I really only follow the championship by reading the results.  No TV networks here cover the other WEC races at all, not even highlights.  I'm not sure I'd have the time to watch them anyway.

I watch (ie at the circuit) lots of historic racing now, I got a surprise at how fast some of these cars are, super tourers (BTCC) cars are as quick as the latest generation and the Group C sportscars are stupidly fast and some of the single seater races are amazing with the different lines and some of the overtakes! I also like the current BTCC and LOVE Class1 powerboat racing, went to the Ibiza GP at the weekend.

I want to give Auto GP an honourable mention. I always had a liking for this light fast cars. Unfortunately the grids are small, but the racing is good.

I had the chance to see two races live at the Red Bull Ring in July, where Auto GP supported ELMS and enjoyed the racing and the sound a lot.
