From Australia to Singapore exactly like this year. Suzuka one week earlier, as is Austin. Mexico takes Austin's spot with Interlagos and Abu Dhabi moved one week later.

Keep hoping, but I'm not holding my breath. Bernie wants to ensure that it's not all over before Abu Dhabi and the teams all do what Bernie says.

Obviously I meant points and not pints.

If double points rule remains I'll need more than double pints...  :|

Looks good to me, only two minor quibbles:

1) I hope both Austin and Mexico City will be able to attract capacity crowds with the races only a week apart

2) Double points or no double points, Abu Dhabi's a crap place to end a title fight.

Yup, when Bernie stopped saying "but we've got a contract and we'll be there" that was pretty much it. ;)

A zombie GP?  Does it know that it is dead?

It doesn't care. It just wants to eat our brains.

Racing calendar that begins in the middle of March and ends in November? Great thinking!

Facetiousness aside, I'd like to express my thankfulness that Spa, Spielburg, Montreal, Melbourne, Sepang, Monza, Suzuka and Interlagos are all on the schedule for '15. Some things are right with the world.

AMuS is the only outlet I can find with this calendar. Does anyone have a link to an English-language site with it?

I have no doubt that Mexico will draw very, very well. Austin? Who knows. There is potential for much bigger crowds here than they've drawn thus far. They should be able to draw capacity crowds regardless of a race in Mexico. They haven't come close yet though.

Great. Let's go testing when the temperatures are much lower than later on in the year and find out absolutely nothing about how the tyres work in hotter conditions.

That was one of the 'cost saving' rules they agreed on in summer - that they would only test in Europe.

As usual, they're saving costs on the wrong end.

So No return or Korea or India?

Shame to see them vanish from the calendar before they even got a decent chance to create a fan base.

India was a crap track anyway. Though, have seen Sotchi now, and it looks crap and a lot like Abu Dhabi, so India or Korea instead of Sotchi would have been better.

The draw in Austin is still on par or greater than it is in traditional F1 countries.  That's not bad considering the small footprint of F1 in the US.  The pricing can be made to be more palatable but the accomodation costs are going to be difficult to contain becuase of the limited supply.  The Austin market can't sustain that many rooms over the year and during a peak like the race or football the prices adjust accordingly.  As an example the Austin Convention and Visitors  Bureau says there are 30k hotel rooms in the greater metro area.  For an event of 100k plus that's not enough capacity.  While good for the market size in general, compared to either larger, more populous areas or tourist destinations that's not a lot of rooms.  As an example there are 30k rooms in about a mile stretch of the Strip.  The same for air travel getting in and out of Austin without going to Dallas or San Antonio.  The size of the metro area and not the size of the race is going to be the limiting factor that determines how many ultimately the race will draw.

- Yep. The U.S. market is plenty big to provide huge USGP crowds. It isn't happening though. The crowds have been decent, but they're small compared to the Indy crowds and they've never had a sellout. There is a large market here to draw from, and they aren't doing it.

- Prices can be a problem, but it's an artificial problem. Rooms have never sold out during the two F1 weekends (even when there was a football game on the same weekend). COTA has artificially limited supply with their room-blocking deals with hotels. Thousands of those rooms never sold and were dumped back into the market in the last few weeks leading up to the GPs. Austin area hotels routinely handle 100K crowds at Texas football games, ACL, etc.  The only time the hotel market here actually sells out is during SXSW , when there are typically 200K plus extra people in town (and it is completely overwhelmed). Between Austin and San Antonio, there are more than enough hotel rooms to easily handle the crowds. San Antonio is a tourist destination with cheaper, nicer rooms, most of which are within about an hour's drive of COTA (many even closer than rooms in the suburbs on the north side of Austin).

- As for the limiting factor of crowd size, I guess you're right so long as COTA continues to only promote the race in Austin and just put up a few billboards in San Antonio, Dallas, and Houston.

I personally think 20 is too many. Always thought 16 or 17 was the ideal amount. It stretches too close to Christmas now, and doesn't give drivers or teams any breather between seasons. Not fair IMO.

So you want pre-season testing in the middle of the season?

You create a fan base by having a thriving national motor racing culture, not by parachuting a F1 race into the midst* of a country full of people who neither know nor care about it.

* or in the case of Korea, somewhere so remote that even Koreans had never heard of it.
