I don't think this is possible in current F1,too complicated. If they change things,so driver only need to use wheel to turn, change gears, and change engine power 1-10,and drink .Oh and of course change brake strength/front-back,but thats not on wheel.Thats it,if they remove everything else, sure do it.They can show fuel level on wheel.
But they need to make tires better...and probably lot of other things,so it's not a luck race, because they can't feel everything, nobody.Good idea, but it's need too much change.
What they need to make F1 better for fans, and everybody else is lot "easier":
Remove fuel flow limit,add 20kg more fuel,give em +2 engine per year,wider and better tires,and let's race,it would make the F1 lot better(better sound,but more important,speed!)
But i think the 2014 season is good, sometimes DRS(remove it if fuel flow limit gone)is too much, but other than that we see good racing,a lot of very nice and clean fights. But they are too slow compared to the last v10 era,and the tracks become a lot safer....so why fear to go at least close to that
