I was chatting the other day with a pal from when I used to work in the old car trade in Kensington a decade ago and he commented that we were both fortunate to have caught the tail end of the period when businisses still opearated out of the various Mews lockups (all be it, the premesis were rather more than lock ups by that time)

Gregor Fisken and a couple of others still operate from these old properties, of course, but what records are there of the 'olden days' before the old car business (both sales and repair / restoration) started to drift away to out of town industrial estates as a result of property prices, and latterly conjestion charging etc.

Does anyone have any photos of these mews premesis, either from the 'period' when they seemed to be the prefered location for race teams and small tuning concerns, or from the period when Queens Gate Place Mews, for example, seemed to be the home to an ever changing roster of individual dealers, each operating from their own little garage, offering all manner of sports racers, GP cars and Rolls Royces in the back of Motorsport etc.

Surely enthusiasts visiting London recorded these scenes on their Box Brownies?
