Awful race. 1/10

Despite Seb's best finish of the season.

Safety car could not even save it for once. No action what so ever, and the real battle was over before the race had even started.

5/10

Rosberg's issues ruined what could have been a classic.

Best driver: It is tough. Perez fought back from a front wing issue
- JEV was quick but really the penalties impact on my decision.
- Maldonado was close to the points in a terrible car but tires gave in.

Tough to say.

Worst: Sutil.

Best Team: Red Bull - 33 points.

Best overtake: Fernando giving his spot to Vettrl. Smart play to help him avoid a penalty.

DRS+Tires: Drs didn't make much of an impact IMO but tires made the race exciting.

Thank god for the SC though.

Pretty tedious.  The presenters go on about it being a 'jewel in F1's crown', but there's rarely a heart-thumping race here and this was no exception.

Easy win for Lewis (not that that's his fault!) thanks to Rosberg's woes.  Never in doubt he was going to sail past whoever he was behind after his final stop, despite the faux excitement of the commentators.

Not exactly a race to remember.

Best Driver - Lewis Hamilton
Worst Driver - None I could really say drove badly
Best Team - Redbull double podium
Best Overtake - JEV on that bunch towards the end to neutralise his penalty
Best Moment - Hamilton pitstop and repass, the podium was very jovial and the fans were fantastic
DRS + Tyres - DRS meh! and tires were surprisingly well behaved not too much of a factor.

Race itself, not that exciting, except for run by Lewis to gap the field and a little bit of drama towards the end.

Rated it 3/10. It had some redeeming moments, but it was pretty dire overall. It's bad enough with only the two Mercedes having a realistic shot at the win, but with just one it all becomes rather predictable.

Best Driver: Despite his ridiculous first corner move, I'd say Alonso. He put great pressure on the Red Bulls throughout the race.
Worst Driver: Vergne, who time and time crossed the track limits to gain an advantage.
Best Team: Red Bull, their lack of outright pace made their conservative strategy understandable, if not very exciting for the viewers. It worked out quite well for them.
Best Overtake:
Have to give the nod to Pérez for his move on Kvyat. I hadn't expected it at that point on the track.
Best Moment: Alonso leapfrogging Vettel with a different tyre. Unfortunately the (very long!) safety car ruined any chance of seeing those two strategies play out.
DRS + Tyres: The difference between the two compounds was rather big, and the safety car put a lot of cars on boring strategies. Not ideal. DRS was as silly as always.

And the race in a sentence: There was a good race today, but it wasn't the one in Singapore. ;)

Not that great really. Any real semblance of excitement only came about because of the SC and that didn't last for long.

Worst race of the year by far, absolutely tedious with almost no genuine overtaking or on track action at all.  (except for when cars were falling off the track due to no tyres left).   Honestly I think this race is a perfect argument for why they should NOT race on street circuits, it was basically 2 hours of follow the leader.    2/10

I find it hard to give ratings in the other categories due to how dull the race was.  I guess Hamilton would have to be driver of the day due to the fact he won, probably give Vettel a close 2nd due to the way he hung on to those tyres for so long.   Vergne and Sutil were disappointing.  Ferrari underwhelming too, especially Kimi who seemed to get shafted by the "undercut" and then stuck in traffic.

Really hope the next race is better because this race today promised so much in qualifying and then delivered so little today.  Probably not helped by the fact that Nico was out of it so nobody had a realistic chance to challenge for the win.

10/10 The race was the usual processional SingaBore rubbish but it was DARK and there were LIGHTS which always make it one of the highlights of the season!  :drunk:

Actually voted it 3/10. Slight strategy interest but nothing much else.

This was the worst race of the season. Not even going to bother to rate it, it's almost a 0 for me. A 0.5 if I feel kind enough.

Best Driver: Hamilton had to push like crazy after the SC, extracted the max. Calm overtake on Vettel
Worst Driver Sutil
Best Team: Red Bull, good strategy, achieved the best result available to them.
Best Overtake Can't really think of any that stood out.
Best Moment: Hamilton pulling a 25 second gap
DRS + Tyres: Tyres were great, real difference between two compounds, DRS seemed reasonable, not making it too easy to pass.

This track is a bit too long which spreads the car out. They need to consider shortening it.

Another thing is that due to the extreme conditions, the drivers cannot race each other close and hard and the race becomes a bit processional.

Best Driver - Hamilton, who else?
Worst Driver - Rosberg: he didn't ask the Team for 'more reliability' whilst all problems happened with Hamilton, did he?
Best Team - Williams, managing all Friday problems swiftly
Best Overtake - No one, unless overtaking for another win counts
Best Moment - the sofa experts saying it out loud here — and even on TV! — Hamilton would miss the podium and Alonso should win
DRS + Tyres - That's a stupid question, completely unrelated to the subject of the thread!

Boring, the SC sort of saved it a bit. 4/10.

Vettel best driver.

Sutil worst driver.

Red Bull best team

Best moment: when SC shaked everything up. It´s horrible for the fairness of the race but I was falling asleep...

Best pass: That Force India late dive on the inside of Räikkönen into T1. I was impressed.

DRS was a non factor. Tyres were horrible, the primes were residual and served no purpose.

Best driver - Vettel.

Worst driver - Sutil.

Best team - Red Bull.

Best overtake - Not sure, will get back to you on that.

Best moment - Watching and wondering if it would be Hamilton on a 3 stop or one of the 2 stoppers who would win.

Tyres + DRS - Interesting.

And the race in a sentence... Good for the WDC fight.

Required some patience, got a but tense towards the end.

Best - Hamilton

Worst - Sutil and Maldonado

Team - RB

Overtake - Did we see another overtake other than the DRS move by Hamilton?

Moment - HAMMERTIME!

How can a race be boring?  I could sit in an 8 hour FP and not get bored.  Just watching the cars on track live or at closer viewing on TV is sublime.  Same with bikes.  Nonetheless, as races range from 7-10, all good, but some with added bits or my favs spicing it up.  This got an easy 8/10.

Driver of the race:  Kvyat - dehydrated, finished the race; Vettel - holding off the onslaught; Hamilton - great job

Worst - I have to go with Vergne - excellent outcome and some good racing, but some really crap racing too.  Not too terrible, but there was none too terrible so..

Best team - Red Bull

Worst team - Mercedes - no accounting for that type of issue that Nico had at this stage.  Just horrible

Overtake - Vettel on Daniel at the start after being squeezed on the inside (but just enough room)

Best Moment - Bulls staying ahead of Ferrari with Seb at the front crossing the line.

I gave it a 7

Best Driver - Hamilton. 19 racing laps on used super softs, no errors, he just kept going. Akin to Vettel's victory last year, which I think is one of Seb's best ever. Seb himself, Massa and Vergne were all very good.

Worst Driver - Whoever squeezed the Force India, Sutil?

Best Team - Red Bull

Best Overtake - Vergne on Kimi

Best Moment - Not sure

DRS + Tyres - Tyres were okay, DRS meh

Hamilton blew them all into the weeds again. Good race but a great victory -- when he's 2014's world champion we'll need a few of his highlights to look back on: this will be one of them. And some interesting storylines playing out down the field.

So I gave it 7 out of 10.

But the FIA gets zero for shooting itself in the foot about the team radio "ban". Made no discernible difference to the viewer, who it was supposed to benefit.

6/10 boring race, we were robbed of an exciting fight for the race win by technical problems before the race even started, and during the race nothing exciting happened at all. Well, except for maybe wondering "was that team radio conversation right now illegal or not?". Would have been interesting to see at least one driver getting slapped with a 5 second penalty for one of those very detailed "save your brakes in this and that corner" messages (I thought those were illegal and only general "save your brakes, they are not looking good" messages were allowed), but not even that happened.

Best Driver - would say Vettel, Hamilton did not really have to do much to win
Worst Driver - don't know, nothing really comes to mind
Best Team - Red Bull, managed to get the maximum points possible for them
Best Overtake - what overtakes? Can only remember the unnecessarily dangerous one by Hamilton
Best Moment - don't know, guess some of the views from the helicopter were pretty cool
DRS + Tyres - nothing special, except that there was a big difference between the compounds and Mercedes seemd to struggle a bit to make them work

I kind of lost interest once it became obvious that Hamilton would walk it. Only the fact that there were no ridiculous steward decisions saved the race from falling into the "below 5" category.

Superb drive from LH, but a thin 3/10 race. It was a borefest. I hate street circuits apart Monaco. Suzuka should be much better.

Very average.  That's being polite or generous.

Had almost no urge to watch live timing or track the strategies.  It was predictable that Lewis would still win.  Even if he pitted 10 secs behind Alonso at the final stop, he would have had new tyres and superior pace.  The battle behind Lewis was pretty average with people pretty much maintaining positions and big gaps.

Happy for Vettel that he had a strong result, and also for Vergne who had a strong result but lots of tales of woe for a lot of people and little in the way of actually fighting or battling.  Sort of a predictable and dull race.  The last few laps were good ok with Bottas but all in all was a very strange race and not the norm for 2014.  Very anti climatic compared to most races this year.

I hope that Lewis fans can see why their reaction at Spa was so silly.  F1 is unpredictable and luck goes both ways.  The world was ending and suddenly leads the championship with many races to go.  It's unpredictable.

Unlike this race, which was very dull and predictable.  I enjoyed qualifying more.

The rating system commonly used in these threads actually ranges from 1-10. We are, after all, subjectively comparing Grand Prix with each other.

I went for a 7, a Mercedes-Benz win probably added a point or two but generally I thought it was a very average GP, far to much tire saving.

Favorite moment was probably Hamiltons string of awesome laps.

Best Driver - Ricciardo (having issues midway and still fought off Alonso)
Worst Driver - Sutil (Need i say?)
Best Team - Ferrari (Some very solid drives from a car that i still wouldn't consider a top car)
Best Overtake - A mix between Checo's and Vergne's (Checo with his normal tire preservation, Vergne doing all he can not only to pass but to keep that 5 second gap)
Best Moment - Same as above.
DRS + Tyres -
The teams expected to do well on the tires did. Weird about Chilton though?

Unlucky for most, great racing by the under-dogs featuring previous issues.

Best driver - Hamilton, Vergne

Worst driver - Ericsson, as usual

Best team - Red Bull

Best overtake - Hülkenberg around the outside of I don't know which car anymore

Best moment - Lewis getting out of the pits ahead of Fernando and Dan

DRS + Tyres: No complaints, tyres were holding on better than expected

I gave this race a 10 in a fit of utter madness. Now that I see clearer, I would give it a 6/10. Wasn't too shabby for Singapore though.

Best Driver - Vergne for taking 6th despite such an eventful afternoon
Worst Driver - Whoever it was that too off Perez's wing- Sutil?
Best Team - Red Bull
Best Overtake - None stood out, but Vergne had a good charge in the last couple of laps.
Best Moment - Hamilton's post SC charge
DRS + Tyres - A few non-DRS passes. Not as overpowered as some track but still an unwelcome OT aid. As for tyres, it doesn't matter how hard or soft, teams will generally run to identical strategies.

6/10. The final couple of laps saved it from 5/10, as well as the brief illusion that there may be a real fight for the win, brought to us by a lengthy SC intervention. The race was average, not only because Rosberg was out early, but the fight for the other podium places never materialised into an actual on track battle.

Best Driver

Sebastian Vettel (if there's 100m freestyle swimming and one of competitors has swimming flippers and he wins, is he the best? I don't think so, sorry Lewis)
Worst Driver

-
Best Team

Red Bull (Mercedes is best car on field, but one dud car makes this for Red Bulls)
Best Overtake

Er..were there overtakings? I saw some DRS+ERS moves and few position swappings due rival had toasted tyres, but no overtakings.
Best Moment

I found extremely comfortable position in my sofa so I was able to sleep about 15 minutes during GP.
DRS + Tyres

Didn't give much potential on Singapores nice but difficult street GP. Soft compound did wear out too quick.

I enjoyed bright lights of Singpore and stunning engineering of skyscrapers, but street circuits are very dull. They usually have some straights for sprints and then difficult narrow chicanes which doesn't give much change on competition and overtakes. All ERS and DRS are useless when straights are not long enough for battles.

2/10

5. A bit of a bore after the last run of races, and we were denied a good fight at the front by Rosberg's failure. Nice to see him taking it on the chin though and not crying about it (unlike some...).

There wasn't much good racing, though in 2013 I might have given this a 6 or 7 as the end was quite fun, but very average by 2014 standards.

They used to have KERS which stands for Kinetic Energy Recovery System. But now they have other recovery things added on system too so ERS is Energy Recovery System.

Fun isn't it? Our F1 commentators doesn't even talk about F1 engines. They are more like power units. :D

P123,

He was best of the rest (after Hamilton).

You remember 2013 one Mercedes team was doing illegal secret tests with their drivers with disguised helmets just before Monaco GP?

They got slap on wrist from FIA but nothing more. That test didn't help at all their mission on 2014 tyres and car specs.

I think there's roots why we see one team outperforming others. I like fairness of F1 too. :D

Best Driver

Sebastian Vettel (if there's 100m freestyle swimming and one of competitors has swimming flippers and he wins, is he the best? I don't think so, sorry Lewis)

Maybe, maybe not.

They used to have KERS which stands for Kinetic Energy Recovery System. But now they have other recovery things added on system too so ERS is Energy Recovery System.

And ERS is very different from KERS - there no button for it as you seemed to suggest   ;)
