Having the race in distant Yeongam was a fail, Seoul might be better. Then again, I think the chances of this happening are 5%, just one of those rumours coming and going.

If this happens, I don't give a verdict before I see the layout. Low hopes, Singapore was a pretty good for a street circuit but Valencia was a bad example of a streat circuit. Too bad the race in Yeongam was a failure, it was one of the best new tracks aside from its grey look.

And this line was quite strange:

The Singapore Grand Prix costs about S$150 million to stage annually, and it has brought S$100 million in incremental tourism receipts yearly.

So S$100M of tourism revenue, yet the race costs  S$50M more. I don't know what's so attractive in that business model.

F1 will continually favour night races in Asia to boost viewing figures in Europe.

For £25m Singapore gets two hours of primetime advertising around the world.  Pretty good VFM.

I vote for a night race in Yeongam.  The cars would outnumber the crowds.

Pathetic, utterly pathetic

When a lot of tracks are looking at being dropped and you only go to a place because they are willing to pay through the tourist board.

Hate this kind of thing, they are not interested, just like the INdians,a nd millions that could have put to much better use was wasted on a pointless track inthe middle of nowhere that will now be empty and full of rubbish, like Istanbul.

the point is, they need to have races in countries that embrace, and have huge followings. That is why India, China, and even Korea is a failure. The ticket pricing is just too high for the locals. There's barely any interaction between the drivers, teams and fans..how can they get pas this then?

No matter where they have it, be it a night race, or day race, the country must embrace F1, there must be local fans. The track must be interesting.

I didn't even bother to watch the SIngapore race, because i just knew it was another dull race. F1 needs proper tracks, not bloody street tracks.

Being a night race isnt going to make it much better.

People work on Sunday afternoon in Asia, thus less people come to the races. But there might be more people attending on late evening or night.

They should hold it in North Korea.

Matey boy in charge, the one with the dodgy barnet, would win by 10 laps!

Now that would be a laugh........

At least they could guarantee a crowd. And those that dislike booing will be pleased to know the winner would receive 10 minutes of compulsory celebration.

Another night race

The energy required for a night race is considerable and in a sport that is always bemoaning the costs of competing ---- it's shooting itself in the foot by promoting these daft ideas. Sure it's up to the promoter, but Bernie is in favour of them. The spectacle is nice, but it's a complete waste of energy.

F1 is bonkers these days, in order to have a race appeal to Europeans and the TV audience, they take a race half way around the world, race at a time inconvenient for locals instead of just having more European races!

The Promoter should promote races where ever the International Federation put them. The promoter should not decided where they are run.

Right on.

I guess there's more money in South Korea than Turkey at the moment.

Seoul is drab concrete, think Sochi and you have Seoul.

I actually thought Korea gave semi-decent races, better than Buddh by a country mile, but the circuit was so uninspiring - I think that's why nobody really remembers them (apart from Webber's muddy end in 2010 and the fire truck's moment of glory last year).

No, Bernie would never have a race in a country run by a dictatorship with massive human rights issues, where the people don't give a jot about F1.

I completely hate Yeongam, and I hate the idea of plagiarising Singapore's atmosphere.

Actually South Korea is one of my favorite tracks in the F1 games. If you got into a rhythm the track is really awesome with all the corners and the long straight.

Aside from the straights, it is a bit like Budapest, which is also one of the more satisfying circuits to get right.

Yeongam had an uninteresting environment, mostly industry, but the track layout was pretty good, I liked that track
