Thoughts go out to Bianchi, I literally haven't been able to process the race and feel quite sick about what has happened as it seems serious.  We haven't not done one of these for 3 years so I'll post the topic.

As ever I appreciate all those who contribute, I plan on collating your best moments for a highlights reel at the end of the season, try not to rate this as a 1 due to the accident but some healthy discussion would be appreciated in what was, up to that point, an interesting race.  It is very difficult to objectify the race as a spectacle due to what has happened but if nothing else it would be a relieving 'distraction' on some of the best moments from a sport that we love until we are able hopefully receive good news on the situation.

I found the racing itself to be fairly entertaining, though far from the most entertaining race I've see. Gave it 7/10.

As for Bianchi, although I'm eagerly awaiting for news just as everyone else, it didn't take away from the racing itself, objectively speaking. And no amount of hushed speaking and low volume talking will.

:EDIT:

Also, what DID happen to Kimi. He was nowhere, wow...

Best Moment - Hamilton overtaking Rosberg

The race was perfectly fine until they activated DRS. When was the last race in which cars on wet weather tyres raced with DRS? Is there a precedent?

Hamilton might have taken the lead for the race, but Ricciardo's moves in the esses were much better examples of supreme ability.

Best Driver Jenson
Worst Driver Kimi
Best Team Red Bull
Best Overtake Toss up between Lewis on Nico or Daniel on either Williams
Best Moment When I realised that I had time to make a bacon butty before the race restarted
DRS + Tyres The Wets did their usual safety stint, the Inters did what they should.  DRS got Lewis past Nico, but only after nearly putting him in the wall.
And the race in a sentence... Unfortunately a great race will be remembered mainly for the tragedy that befell Jules, so I struggled to give the race 5: I'm hoping and waiting for good news

Thanks for your sensible replies.

Best Overtake - Ric on Mas/Bot

Simply stunning.  I know the Williams had no grip but this kid is the real deal

Best Overtake - Hamilton on Rosberg (how long will that be remembered for)
DRS + Tyres - Negated by rain

Pretty sure Ham's overtake on Rosberg was aided by DRS.  Still required supreme bravery though!

The 2012 (? - too lazy to google) Montreal GP comes to mind. Schumi was for a podium until they activated the super-magic-boom-bust button and everyone else breezed by.

on topic: I give the experience a 1, because I can't give it a zero.

it leaves me with really one of the most abominable feelings I've ever had watching f1. on par with Imola 1994.

Rated it 6/10. It wasn't especially exciting, but it was nice to see some wet weather action, so I'm giving an extra point for that.

Best Driver: Jenson Button, he made an inspired choice at the start and held on for a good long while.
Worst Driver: Räikkönen, the Ferrari might not be excellent, but he was completely invisible.
Best Team: Mercedes, no doubt about that. It's a wonder they haven't finished 1st and 2nd in all the races.
Best Overtake: Ricciardo's moves on the two Williams cars. Great lines through those tricky corners.
Best Moment: When the track was so dry that the Intermediate Car could finally take a well-deserved break.
DRS + Tyres: At least the Wet tyres saw some use. DRS was silly as always.
And the race in a sentence: The FIA needs to urgently review its stance on wet weather racing, including the position of Mr. Whiting.

That being said, hopefully Bianchi is okay. :well:

I do say that I think it is unfair people are voting taking the Bianchi incident into account. I think the race should be judged on the quality of how it progressed rather than how it ended, especially in this case.

That was in 2011 and everybody was on slicks at that time.

I gave it 6. I thought it was quite an ordinary race for a wet race to be honest, but maybe that was partly tiredness and the dull start. But overall it was quite a straightforward grand prix.

I don't think you can expect people to do that, especially so soon after what has happened.

I hear what you're saying - but the race doesn't really matter right now.

Best Overtake Vettel and Ricciardo on Williams and Lewis Hamilton on Rosberg

And the race in a sentence... Race had fantastic moments, but the safety car interruptions and bianchi's incident has left any celebration unenjoyable. My thoughts go out to Bianchi and his family.

6 or 7, can't decide. Ruined by Rosberg's obvious uncompetitive-ness and RB not being able to fight at the front.

Best Driver - Lewis. Best driver in the wet.
Worst Driver - meh
Best Team - Merc
Best Overtake - RBs at the hairpin
Best Moment - LewLew bringing home the bacon
DRS + tires - Tyres very good. DRS seemed to significantly help Lewis, although Rosberg's defence was very weak.
And the race in a sentence... Bag of nerves.

Until the crash, I really enjoyed the race because it's the first proper wet race we've seen for a while that wasn't overly interrupted by extended safety car and red flag phases. Great to see the different lines the drivers take and being able to follow incredibly close. I particularly enjoyed Hamilton's pursuit and ultimate passing of Rosberg. Buttons early switch to inters was a good move and demonstrated Jenson's abilities in those conditions.

8/10

Best Driver - Hamilton
Worst Driver - Massa
Best Team - Mercedes
Best Overtake - Hamilton on Rosberg - thought he'd over-cooked it and would go off track, but it was perfect and meant he would win the race.
Best Moment - As above, Hamilton on Rosberg
DRS + tires - Tyres good, DRS was as good as it can be - didn't make for easy passes but still worked.
And the race in a sentence...Dominant drive from Hamilton, really schooled Rosberg today.

Hard for me to rate this GP. On the one hand there were quite a few exciting battles, like the one for the lead, on the other hand there was the Bianchi-accident...

Excluding the accident I would give it 7/10.

Best Driver - Hamilton
Worst Driver - Magnussen
Best Team - Mercedes
Best Overtake - Hamilton on Rosberg (caught me by surprise)
Best Moment - Hamilton on Rosberg
DRS + tires - Both ok
And the race in a sentence...World cHAMpionship-drive from Lewis, but knowing his luck that doesn't have to mean anything

Best Driver - Button
Worst Driver - Not sure. Raikkonen, Rosberg, Kobayashi and Maldonando all seemed quite poor (and Magnussen but apparently he had technical issues)
Best Team - Red Bull
Best Overtake - Hamilton on Rosberg because of how significant it was. Both Red Bulls passes on both Williams' were also excellent.
Best Moment - When the safety car came in allowing us to actually have a proper race.
DRS + Tyres - Fine
And the race in a sentence... Interesting and very enjoyable apart from Bianchi getting injured.

Went for a 5 as the actual racing was too short, cut short by the terrible incident that befell Jules Bianchi and also the continued indecisiveness from the race controllers in wet starts. The Safety Car was out for way too long at the beginning of the race and wasn't out early enough at it's eventual end.

Best Driver - Easily Jenson Button. He just had one of those days in these conditions where if he had a Mercedes or Red Bull he'd have romped home to the win by 20 seconds plus. Unluckily for him the McLaren just isn't as good as those two cars yet Jenson showed his class at a crucial time by being the only driver who could live with the pure pace of Merc and RBR. 3rd was possible but for the steering wheel change, and the timing of the last SC really robbed us of Jenson catching back up on the extreme wets which were the right choice if the race was to conclude at it's proper last lap.
Worst Driver - Magnussen had a mare. Forgiving his technical troubles that essentially killed his chance of any bigger points, he was scruffy, made too many mistakes, had inconsistent pace and to top it off nearly took off his teammate trying to act all clever in attempting to unlap himself. He had no reason to try and overtake his teammate at that point of the circuit when the whole reason he was on the extreme wets anyway was to be a guinea pig for Jenson!
Best Team - Red Bull are streets ahead of the competition when it comes to the pitwall. Kudos to McLaren for getting a ballsy strategy right though.
Best Overtake - Ricciardo's pair on the Williams'... I actually laughed out loud when I saw him pull those off. Balls of steel and finesse all at the same time, regardless of the grip advantage the RBR's had.
Best Moment - Will be when we hear some good news on Jules.
DRS + Tyres - Worked well really. No problems with the performance of Pirelli's wet compounds as I think they do a good job with them, and DRS being allowed at any point was surprising given the conditions but it opened up new opportunities in the race so can't complain really.
And the race in a sentence... Lewis edges closer and Jenson stars, but we are all thinking of Jules and wish him a safe and full recovery.

For a wet race it was quite poor, only the Red Bull drivers made it interesting.

The deployment of DRS ruined a good battle between Hamilton and Rosberg aswell.

I gave it a 6. Suzuka rarely delivers a good race for the spectators, last one I remember was 2005

It was a good race, but there weren't really any unexpected surprises in terms of drivers/teams making it into positions they wouldn't normally be in, which is one of the things that makes wet races interesting.  Williams looked a bit slower than expected and Force India looked a bit faster than expected, but the rain and setups probably had a lot to do with that.

I was surprised how quickly Hamilton dropped Rosberg after passing him though.  Even after they both went in for new tyres Hamilton continued to pull away at about a second a lap.  He really trounced Rosberg in a way we haven't seen either of them do this season.

It's horrible what happened to Bianchi though and I hope he recovers.

...

My intention is not to challenge anyones opinion and I respect that. Lot of people seemed to give worst driver ranking to Kimi Räikkönen. Power unit change on saturday to used spare power unit before qualifying was not technical issue then?  Nor pitstop when frontwheel change took so many extra seconds he dropped at places with Caterhams and Marussias. Oh...he must be worst because he was invisible then...his mediocre season doens't give much time from video footage, but please...he doesn't write script for cameramen. Of course! He was worst because he was all over the places, got penalties, collided with others and eventually with safety car and mugged Nigel Mansell at parking lot. Strange...no race report mention any of those.

This all must be so, because he is black.

Best Driver

Jenson Button
+ Jean-Eric Vergne: started at the back of the grid because of a 10 place grid penalty (changed engine), Vergne was also amazing in Singapore
Worst Driver

Kevin Magnussen for sure.

Kamui Kobayashi also had a bad weekend but it should be noted that he only had 4 practice laps on Friday

Best Team
Mercedes & Red Bull
Best Overtake
Ricciardo's overtakes on Bottas & Massa + Hamilton's overtake on Rosberg
Best Moment

Worst Moment
we all know what that is
DRS + Tyres
imho they shouldn't use DRS if the track is still wet
And the race in a sentence...

Weren't most of the cars on inters by the time DRS was enabled?

Best Driver - Hamilton
Worst Driver - Mansell
Best Team - McLaren (and Button for pulling it off)
Best Overtake - Hamilton/Rosberg for flying balls, Ricciardo's were beautifully done though (but against ailing cars that were hapless in the corners)
Best Moment - OMG OMG OMG as Lewis went round the outside
DRS + Tyres - tyres worked well in all conditions, DRS didn't seem to make a massive difference IMHO ; Hamilton got Rosberg because of the entrance to the chicane and Rosberg slipping on exit not just because of DRS.
And the race in a sentence... remembered for the wrong reasons.
