There's a new England ready for you in the colonies. Be careful what you wish for.
Go Williams!

Half the field off the track going around T2 on the first lap!

I would.
I'd overtake four cars by taking the shortcut... and then I'd show Charlie I was nicely giving two places back.

Rosberg to "cheat" yet again by deliberately going off track and the FIA to take no action.

I'm worried that Rosberg might do something stupid/unfair. And worst of all: Get away with it.

Hamilton will win by 20 seconds+, much like in Suzuka.
I don't want that, but it's what will happen. Rosberg doesn't stand a chance.

Posted 12 October 2014 - 08:04
btw:
Hamilton has the newest tyres on the start, 4 laps with only one fast lap, ROS has 5 with 2 fast laps, Bottas 7 with 3 fast laps.
Although degredation is very low this can be an advantage when it will be a one stop race.

If LH leads through the first lap then the its certain he will win barring anything from happening.
I would like to invite you to consider this sentence.

I doubt it, not after the verbal public flogging Merc gave him after Spa. It could cost him his seat for the rest of the season.

Logic says Hamilton will cruise to the victory with Rosberg cruising to second and an all round boring race unless there are safety cars.
However Rosberg must see the WDC slipping from his grasp and so he really can't afford to let Hamilton take another victory. Hence I wouldn't rule out some first lap madness.

Surely has to be a victory for Mercedes on the cards. Hamilton is looking unbeatable, and while I'm backing Rosberg between the two of them for the championship, it must be said that he truly does get on a roll when it comes to winning races to a point where he doesn't look like dropping the ball. Having said that, I think whichever of the 2 Mercedes doesn't get away the best (i.e. doesn't lead after 50 metres) will lead the end of lap 1.
I can see the massively long run to turn 2, or 1.. whatever it's called with that kink, creating a very big opportunity via the slipstream.

Is there dirty side as dirty as was in Austin at the inauguration when cars starting from even positions fell back few places at the start?.
#21

i expect Hamilton to have some sorts of failure during race(no conspiracy theory) ..Rosberg to win...Ferrari fighting for 9th-10th..

Half the field off the track going around T2 on the first lap!
Just did in GP2. In fact cars wide on every corner. Just enough run off provided to allow safe return but force cars to slow down.

The dirty side seems to be quite ok to start on.

In all races 1st has kept 1st, but it's been pretty dicey in most of them. Frankly the starts here are borderline dangerous, and the only way to calm down turn 2 would be introducing speed bumps or barriers which would be even more dangerous.

Mercedes would not take him out of that car, almost regardless of what happens, Merc wont just give Hamilton the championship if Rosberg does something silly (or vice versa), they'll pretty much have rapped up the constructors and will let them duke out for the rest of the year.

I can't watch live today, so am recording the race and will avoid the result 'til I can watch it later this afternoon.
Me too. Missed last week 'cause I was in France without any TV access and now the wife is dragging me out to a concert at 12.00
Edit: Hamilton, Bottas, Rosberg

Yep, could not understand what Williams were playing at yesterday - deg may be low but his tyres are materially older than Lewis' now and he needs another 20 laps out of them.

Vandoorne only won the start by losing it to Izawa first though. He had poor traction from the line but managed to overtake Izawa again into turn 2

It is amazing how negative some people sound. May I suggest that you replace your negativity with hope please.... Now where is that sleeping pill trunk?

I'm hoping for Bottas to build on the good lap he was about to finish yesterday, bring that pace into the race.
Button will score serious points.
Wonder what Kvyat can do, and if Räikkönen will continue to be as quick as he was yesterday.
…Lewis

A safety car phase does indeed look likely, and combined with the expected low number of stops it could effectively end up giving us two races this afternoon.
The initial start will be interesting, and let's hope there won't be too many corner-cutting shenanigans like we saw in the early years at Singapore.
As an aside, and expanding on a little discussion about the naming of the corners that we had in the qualifying thread. A friend alerted me to the following great idea: what better way to name the most iconic corner of this track than to honour the frequent official mascot for the Russian Olympic Team: Cheburashka.

Im not sure which of those two cars is the better package here this weekend. Could be interesting.

This is Lewis we're talking about here Femi. Best to be negative at the start........ Then do a huge fist-pump at the end if his car doesn't explode....... Or he doesn't have a brainfart.
Well...... That's my take anyway........

For some reason I have the feeling the SC will come out at exactly the wrong time for Hamilton..
#45
Posted 12 October 2014 - 09:57
Guys, it's simple. Hamilton wins today, with a Rosberg dnf. Hamilton then wins the next 2 races with Rosberg 2nd to build a 49 point lead in the championship heading to the last race.
That's as far as I got before Bernie breaks my crystal ball in 4 weeks time.
I think that would cause me to not sleep in the days upto the race!

Hamilton to run away and hide and Nico to be 20-25secs behind at the end with a Williams a distant third.

I hate to say this, but why do Sky insist on putting Senna on the Skypad? He is very bad, and he is bad because he speaks poor english and can't express his thoughts well enough, as well as not utilising the Skypad enough.

I find his english very good for a non-English driver.
