It's significant that both Turkington and Plato have taken their race engineers with them to BMR as well.

Alain Menu will still be here for this year, right? I mean, in the BTCC.

I'm glad both of them have seats for this season, and most importantly Turkington will be able to defend his title.

That's more like it! Glad Turkington's got a drive, and I'm actully glad Plato is still in as well.
I'm interested to see what kind of sponsorship package is involved, as there's bound to be plenty of TV time between the three cars, not to mention interviews and other commercial work.

I think you'll find the VW will magically find it's way to the front of the grid one way or another...
I'm sure of that, remember Plato getting that junk of a Lacetti competitive all of a sudden after he signed up?

Wow, what a shot of adrenalin this news is for the series...total dream team.
As a fan of both drivers, I hope everything remains relatively harmonious, and it's BMR vs the rest.

Power Maxed has bought United Autosport's second TBL and will expand to two cars this season. This also confirms that UA will not be returning to the series.

Waste of a race seat then. Well, two race seats in fact.

Another piece of the puzzle to be revealed tonight......
We've got an exciting 24 hours ahead so keep your eyes peeled. We have two driver announcements - the first coming at 8pm tonight... #BTCC
And the first announcement is that Tom Ingram remains at Speedworks for his second BTCC season.

The second is that Renault Clio driver Josh Cook will take the second seat at Power Maxed.

BTCC rookie Stewart Lines will replace Lea Wood this season. (Wood had already confirmed that he will take on a managerial role in the team.)
So only three seats left - two at Motorbase, one at AmD - plus the "spare" TBL.

No Marc Hynes this year as he returns to a management role at Manor. I hope he'll be back - he demonstrated improvement in pace even if he was involved in, and created, a lot of accidents.

WSR to run as a works team this year according to TOCA.

Gee, there are some properly terrible liveries. http://www.touringca...btcc-media-day/
Does anyone know why Team Dynamics are using the old (EP3) Honda Type R logo instead of the current one (from 2007 onwards no less!)?

Hehe Jeff Smith in a red flag coloured car - seems fitting!
Love Hamilton's car and good on the chap.

I represent boxo-tools.co.uk, can I pay you to put the name of my company on the side of your car?
How much will you pay?

Went to Donington yesterday - some cracking looking cars this year.
Plato went fastest followed by Turkington. Their car look awesome all in black but I guess they won't stay like it.
Paul O'Neill did a few laps in the Andy Prilaux car as he wasn't able to attend.
My friend got to meet Nicolas Hamilton - he said he was a great guy. Fingers crossed he gets to race later in the year.

Was a canny day trip out for Media day yesterday, just a pity the rain come when it did as most of the running up till then was done with most teams using old tyres so never go to see many true new tyre runs.
Both Aiden Moffat and Adam Morgan looked fast from the start in the Mercs, they will spring a surprise or 2 this year.
Going to be great to see how things go in the BMR camp as there looks very little to separate Plato and Turkington, again never got see what Aron Smith could do as a gearbox problem cut short his running.
Anyway heres my vid of the action:

The Infiniti team will only have one of its cars ready for the first round at Brands Hatch, for Derek Palmer Jnr. More evidence that the factory involvement is minimal.
#188
Posted 01 April 2015 - 20:11
Sounds like Infiniti team will be similar to the underwhelming Lexus team form a few years back. Both were amateur hour efforts.
In both cases the factory is missing/missed a trick. Infiniti need some exposure if they really want to sell some cars in the UK. There are only some 2000 Infinitis registered in the UK in total and nobody recognises one if they see one anyway. I've seen more Teslas than Infinitis.

Posted 01 April 2015 - 20:16
I've seen more Infinitis than MG6s and MG3s - only seen one of each, ever, aside from promotional cars at the races.

True. And the BTCC exposure hasn't helped sales of the MG6 one little bit. There are just 287 registered in the UK. Like you, I have never seen one on the road.
MG3s have done a little better with 1,549 registered (& only over one year). That's despite some quite heavy and presumably expensive TV advertising. Although I did notice one on someone's driveway just this morning.
The problem with Infiniti (2,086 in all -that's all models since 2002) is that the cars are so generic and bland that if you do see one, it simply doesn't register at all.

I've seen a couple of the saloons here in Reading and a few more of the 4X4's... there is a dealership here though.
Don't think I've ever seen one of the MG's on the road...
