Bump.

So many people were displeased with the Chase after the last weekend, that seemed to bother even more than that Rosberg can win the WDC enabled by double points. But has your opinion changed?

Mine isn't. While I think the Chase should reward season-long success (much) more than it does, I think it is an interesting way to decide the title, and in a 36-race series, it could work. Then again, awarding double points for the final F1 race is just absurd. Just for it being the season finale (i.e. having paid extra for that slot and even more extra for double points).

I voted for NASCAR, but only because I care about F1 more.

Both are nothing more than a cheap blatant attempt to falsely extend the mirage of a championship.

It's interesting. I care about NASCAR less so double points probably annoys me more, but voted for the Chase because it really is the gimmickiest gimmick of them all. Especially this year's format.

For me, the Chase format used this year is worse than F1's double-points finale. This is so primarily for two reasons:

1) The penalty for one poor result, within a round of three races, is absurdly too high. Junior and Shrub, for example, were bounced due to no fault of their own.

2) The cleaning of the points slate, for drivers advancing from one round to the next, is nonsense. There's absolutely no way NASCAR can justify a driver with Newman's 2014 record entering a Championship-decider on equal footing with guys with results like Harvick and Logano.
