A wonderfully multi-tiered congregation at Silverstone today paid heartfelt tribute to the late, great, Sir Jack Brabham in a memorable celebration of his life, his work, his career and his achievements. I'll post some photos later, but if Jack's wonderfully accessible, genuinely man-of-the-people personality ever touched you, or his achievements and products interested, moved or impressed you, please pause a moment and consider making a contribution (however small - or large) in his memory to the Brabham family's chosen charity, Kidney Research UK. Jack spent the last eight years of his fantastically jam-packed life sustained by regular kidney dialysis. Incurable kidney failure can strike anyone, any age, any time. Kidney Research UK receives no Government funding but can help advances in understanding and treating such conditions. In homage to this great man's memory, do consider donating here, and please leave a message for the family about what Jack meant for you:

Jackie Stewart delivered a typically eloquent tribute to Jack - most notably perhaps giving him enormous credit for having spoken up in support of JYS's safety campaign in the run up to the proposed 1970 German GP at the Nurburgring. Jackie explained that Jack's support came as a huge surprise, and since Blackie had so much experience, so much stature, and yet spoke so seldom - the fact that he spoke up at all carried the most tremendous weight. And in that respect he honoured Jack for his contribution to top-class motor racing's  tumbling cost in lives...

Long-time Brabham mechanic, later head of Penske's UK operation, Nick Goozee made a masterly eulogy to his former mentor and boss - and announced that Jack's racing gear items which he has so long preserved and cherished, are to be lodged with the BRDC as a memorial to The Guv'nor.

Another fine contribution was made by Gordon Murray - recalling Jack's welcoming recognition that the new boy might indeed have a future in Formula 1 in 1970...while John Watson recalled life in Jack's wheel tracks as a Brabham customer, then F2 and F1 driver.

Cars displayed in the echoingly sterile and awful BRDC Silverstone Wing building. My first visit. I was not impressed...

Great thanks are due of course to all owners who loaned their cars, and perhaps most notably to Hall & Hall who prepared and delivered most of them (again this great outfit coming up trumps for a tribute).

Great thanks are due of course...

...to you, for posting this firsthand report and the images. And your tribute in MS was beautiful. Thank you for honouring your extraordinary friend so beautifully.

Probably I am too stupid to understand that a car is in a public appreciation of Jack Brabham all other than for which it is output.

A BT23 F2 chassis into which was fitted a Type 620 Repco engine, is never a BT24.

Apart from the fact that in the development of this work had with the highest probability never played a role the subject BT24. That came into play as years later, the opportunity perceived therefore to make money in the USA.

Yesterday, in a private family function, this memorial stone was dedicated for Sir Jack in the Brooklands Memorial Garden at Goodwood Motor Circuit. Its simple epitaph reads 'Forever loved'.
