Hi guys,

I am looking at competing in sporadic rounds of some of the UK and Europe's GT championships, e.g. British GT, Britcar etc and stumbled across Newbridge Motorsport.

They are currently competing in the Britcar Endurance Championship and are now offering their services to gentleman drivers, like myself, who own their own race car.

Like I said, I have my own car, and due to not racing full-time just yet, looking for a team who can provide the necessary services on a race-by-race basis. I have not been racing long, so can anyone with experience in this field tell me if the advert below (taken from their website) is worth pursuing?

Cheers guys!

Newbridge Motorsport is delighted to offer comprehensive Preparation and Support Services to owner-drivers in a number of existing championships, such as the Avon Tyres British GT Championship, GT Cup, Britcar, Dutch Supercar Challenge, VLN, European Le Mans Series (ELMS) and the Blancpain Endurance Series, as well as historic racing championships.

A regular in the Britcar MSA British Endurance Championship, Newbridge Motorsport is a diverse and professional customer racing team with over 30 years of experience at the pinnacle of motorsport.

The Milton Keynes-based outfit prides itself in its first-class levels of preparation and its ability to provide the discerning driver with superb arrive and drive offerings that include coaching, lap experiences, as well as full race packages.

Newbridge Motorsport is perfectly positioned to take GT owner-drivers into some of the most prestigious GT series in the UK and Europe, so now is the perfect time to jump aboard and race door handle-to-door handle with motorsport's elite.

Hi Shane.

Welcome to the forum!

I have been involved with a team that was running of a car in British GT in the past and from my experience it depends completely on how competitive you want to be, how deep your pockets are and what car it is that you are racing.

If you are hoping that this is a start point for you to go on and ultimately start challenging for race wins then I would recommend that you focus on a single championship (or at least a common set of technical regs) and look to get yourself involved with a team that specializes in the car you have.

However, if you are just looking to go racing for fun and aren't particularly fussed about where you ultimately finish each race then the team you mention are probably a decent bet.

Before you get involved with them though I would suggest that you visit their workshops to get an idea of their capabilities. I'd be looking to see whether they have any experience with fabrication, engine building, etc. rather than just being able to wield a pair of spanners. Having good mechanics is one thing but when things are going wrong at the race track and time is against you having a team that knows how to do absolutely everything on the car is incredibly valuable.

If possible I'd also attend a race meeting to see them in action and to meet some of the guys, you will be putting a lot of trust in them!
