I think this was an early test of Cooper's anti-squat suspension geometry, and rather than try a start - which was the crux of the test and then have to complete a full lap before trying another in sight of the crew, Bruce just shuttled to and fro in front of them on the pit straight at Goodwood. On a private test day a hirer could do more or less as he liked.

That makes sense, though it would have been nice to think of Bruce doing an anti-clockwise lap!

The car was the 'Formule Libre' Cooper being tested prior to the 1963 Australia/New Zealand races. Bruce did do some full laps; he said that he chopped around 3 seconds off the circuit record.

Also prior to the Australian Grand Prix...

Bruce won that race on November 18 at Caversham in this T62 after Jack had Carnal Arnold cut across his bows. The car went on to other successes in those International races in New Zealand and on the East coast of Australia and was sold to Lex Davison.

Lex passed it on to Rocky Tresise, who raced it about several times before dying in it at Longford in March, 1965, nine days after Lex died at Sandown Park.

The Who?

Thought this was going to be about Keith Moon's foray into rally sponsorship.
