The constructors was sealed for RBR today. The remaining positions can still change but the gaps are large and unlikely to alter even after Abu Double.

P3 - Williams - 254

P4 - Ferrari - 210

P5 - McLaren - 161

P6 - FI - 127

Most of the attention on the drivers side has been focused on Rosberg vs Hamilton with the latter ahead by 17 points. Ricciardo is guaranteed P3 now.

Looking beyond, we have drivers in sets of 3 apiece scrapping for the remaining positions.

Vettel, Alonso & Bottas will scrap for P4-P6. Current standings are:

P4 - Vettel - 159

P5 - Alonso - 157

P6 - Bottas - 156

Button, Massa & Hulkenberg will fight for P7-P9. Current standings are:

P7 - Button - 106

P8 - Massa - 98

P9 - Hulkenberg - 80

Magnussen, Kimi n Perez will fight for P10 - P12. Current standings are:

P10 - Magnussen - 55

P11 - Kimi - 53

P12 - Perez - 47

So who do you want to win these minor battles? Or who do you think deserves to? Fire away.

I don't mean to be rude but I see 4 world champions fighting for P4, P7 and P10. I really don't care who finishes where to be honest.

The constructors was sealed today for many teams. The top 4 positions were locked in based on the results today. Nothing can be done at Abu Double to alter these positions.

P1 - Merc
P2 - RBR
P3 - Williams
P4 - Ferrari

Ferrari are 44 points behind Williams with 86 still to play for...

Thanks for pointing this out. I lost track due to double points.

Ferrari has scored more than 22 points this season only once (Hungary) and that's the result what they need from the last race themselves to beat Williams. And if Williams has a normal race, they defend their 3rd place.

It won't let me vote because I don't want to pick anything for the first choice and there's no "I don't care which" option.

as for P4-6, I would have voted Alonso and for P7-9 I'd vote Button.

Lewis

Alonso

Button

For 2 key reasons

A. They deserve it more than their rivals, as they have performed better throughout the year

B. I like them more than their rivals

The two reasons are not related though. I have not heard a reasonable argument to support Nico being better than Lewis this year. Likewise, Alonso and Button have been better than their immediate rivals in the standings in my opinion.

So yeah, on both a personal and critical level, the choices were very easy for me to make  :smoking:

I dont expect the constructors positions to change any more, even with double points.

I will say with the BS double points and the possibility of a driver I feel has done sweet FA to deserve the title winning the championship I seriously doubt if I will be bothering to watch F1 next year, I am not a particular fan of Hamilton for various reasons however Rosberg has been the lesser race driver this year, non of the BS about being consistent, racing is about winning not being the first of the losing drivers, thanks to Bernie and his all consuming greed F1 is rapidly a joke, I have no issue with engines tech etc, all I wish to see is the best racing driver win at the end of the year,

Cant vote. There's no option for people who arent fan biased one way or the other.

Personally, I think they're both great drivers and have shown enough to prove that either one is a deserving champion, no matter which way Abu Dhabi turns out.

But in a parallel universe, I'm wondering what Nico will do if he's in the lead from Lewis with only a few laps to go.  Despite winning, its a guaranteed championship losing position, so a scriptwriter in an action movie would have him "accidentally" go off track for a moment so he could rejoin and "accidentally" make contact with Lewis.

Wont actually happen though.

You don't care about who wins the title?

Don't sound like a Longtimefan to me.

I see 5 world champions in the field and that makes me happy. Not long ago we only had one!

2005?

JV drove for Sauber in 2005 no?

My guess would be 1996 as the last example of only 1 champion in the field.

*Edit* - 2007 was the last time. Duh!

Title? the driver who has 10 wins to at best 6 for the other and who would already be champion without reliablity problems; Hamilton.

4th? Bottas, been great for much of the season, Vettel/Alonso we know are good anyway.

7th? Button, just to show McLaren how big a bunch of tossers they are for dropping him & screwing him around, hope Honda engine is a massive fail tbh.

Hamilton - With 10 wins on the board he deserves the title.
Alonso - Deserves a decent result considering his efforts in a pretty ordinary car.
Button - Simply because I like him.

Same. Would require really extraordinary circumstances.

Anyways, I'd prefer if Rosberg won the title, although Lewis has probably driven better all year.

Alonso obviously for 4th, for Ferrari.

And Hulkenberg for 7th, as I think its impressive he's even fighting with a McLaren and Williams driver for that position in the first place.

Alonso for 4th. Sorry Bottas you could have been close to DR, but you are not.

Made me think when the last time that there was no former champion on the starting grid.  Portugal 1994, I think.

McLaren? No. Force India was faster than McLaren untill Spa. Williams? Yes
