We haven't had a decent last round title decider for a few years now so …
How about a get together for this ridiculous season ending farce at the soulless Yaz Marina?

The venue should be at a satellite equipped pub in London where we can all hoot and holler at the drama/comedy as it unfolds. The folks at F1inPubs suggested we try Jetlag bar near Warren St tube station but I am sure there is a place with commercial Sky Subs that could show multiple screens (In-Car,Timing Screen etc) for us.
It's a 1PM start so not too unfriendly for those traveling to town for the event.

Venue suggestions ARE welcome and encouraged.. but lets keep it within the confines of London Underground.

Any takers?

I'd come out, definitely.

Haven't lived here long though, so don't really know where the good places to watch are.

I will be boycotting AbuDhabi.

To me Hamilton Won the title in Brazil no matter if Nico manages somehow to win the race and Lewis has a DNF.

I spend most Grand Prix Sundays in the Jetlag Bar.

It's a great place to watch the race - they've got the race on a big screen and the commentary is nice and loud (too many sports bars don't realise that F1 needs much louder, clearer commentary than Football!) The crowd in there is always passionate and vocal, but very respectful of every driver who has a good day rather than just their favourites.

One word of warning - it's likely to be absolutely rammed for Abu Dhabi, so I'd suggest getting there very early if you want to get a seat (or even just a good place to stand).

I know this is a London party but those in Bangalore India can join us at My Bar, Koramangala.

The party has already been organized for the finale and all are welcome. PM me for details.

I'd be up for it certainly, it will be a good way to end the season.

I think JetLag does get a bit rammed from what others have told me (their venue was even advertised on Sky Sports F1 so its probably the main bar in London to watch F1), but I'm not sure on other venues - I tend to watch at home after forking out £85 a month for Sky.

I could be down for this. A quick scour on social media suggests JetLag is the number one suggestion, and I imagine many will want to get the drinks down early so as to make the circuit tolerable.

Here's a list of places showing the GP if you define your search to London. There's also the Sports Bar and Grill chain which has the race under it's event list. I can't say I've been to any of these places though.

I won't be coming from Finland but I'd party so hard that Abu Double would never happen to me.

Thank God tennis has the Davis Cup final that weekend so easy to boycott Abu Double.

I would definitely come! I'm in Glasgow so I would probably travel down on the Saturday and stay overnight. I'm up for a wee trip to London, and I would love to meet you all. :)

As for the venue, I think Jetlag sounds great.

If this is indeed going to happen, please let me know asap so I can make arrangements.

I'd love to pop down but the costs of getting down from the frozen north would buy Sky for a few months at this notice...

I do expect jpegs though.  Plenty of material for the off-season photoshop thread....

I'll obviously like to suggest my pub, but there are a couple of issues, involving not having Sky or indeed any TV's in the pub, or being close to London at all. Apart from that great.

Have you got a wireless? I've got a crate of war surplus vacuum tubes so perhaps we can listen on the Home Service.

This SuperWatchParty sounds like a great idea, obvs. Sign me up. I don't know a thing about London but I can get in and out painlessly.

I will avoid jet lag like a plauge. Final race with lewis up for wdc its going to be rammmed. There are less crowded and more spacious places where one does not have to wait 20mims to get served a drink.

Ok then big voice... Pony up a place for us

Jetlag –

Pros - Big Screen and atmosphere

Cons - Don’t expect to get served quickly

Riley Sports Bar (formerly the sports cafe Piccadilly ) -

Pros - 15+ screens and atmosphere –

Cons - Don’t expect to get served quickly and lots of Americans j/k- not a con really :p     This is where I watch my golf and late night boxing fights

Carlsberg Sports Bar  (Empire casino Leicester Sq) –

Pros Large Screen and more screens than Jetlag quicker to get served –

Cons - Not a a rowdy atmosphere well it wasn't when I watched 2012 final that said this is different. Oh and temptation to have a go on the roulette table

There are numerous other places and a nice one very private one that shall remain a secret     ;)

We need somewhere, as said earlier, where loud commentary can be guaranteed - one thing that puts me off in pubs is not being able to hear radio conversations, etc.

Good News Race Fans...

After a few phone calls and succinctly worded emails... ;)

We have secured a guaranteed reservation at both the Famous 3 Kings (West Kensington tube) and JetLag (Warren St Tube)

Unfortunately Carlsburg and Rileys both said they do not take reservations for F1 races..

Here are the conformation email's I received today.

Hi Jon,

Thanks for your returning interest in our pub. We can certainly accommodate you for this. We will also do one better and give you our upstairs area free of charge I hope this helps.

Robert Owen
Assistant Manager
Famous Three Kings

Hi Jon,

Your group reservation is now confirmed.  Please note that all guests must be eating and arrive 1 hour before the race.  Late arrivals forfeit seating on a first come basis.

Best regards,

Scott@jetlag

-------
Pros and Cons © BadVoice

+Jetlag has a humongous screen downstairs and blasting audio throughout the place.

+ it's the established venue for F1 viewing in London and we have space dedicated to us.

- Ya gotta get there 1 hr early and have purchased foodstuffs in or near your mouth at all times.

- SkySportsF1 will be shoving a microphone in or near your mouth between bites of said food.

+3 Famous Kings is offering us their upstairs room and 2 dedicated screens with loud audio.

+There are no minimums and no press to ask you how you feel about the glory of a British victory.

- Other screens showing football in the bar area downstairs.

- Food is less than spectacular ( at least it was in 2011 when I was last there )

Now it's up to us to decide which venue we would like to attend.

(Good luck with making a decision on THIS forum I hear you say... )

Also..We now need to confirm which of you internet tossers are ACTUALLY going to attend.

It is important that if you do say you are coming....YOU SHOW UP.

Jp

oh and PS.. One of you have to dress up like Miley Cyrus as both venues wanted me to bring a 'celebrity'

Not that I'm likely to be there, but do either of them do anything decent to drink ? Hold Fire, Jetlag has a couple of decent bottles, Not many mind, and a meh* draft selection, but at least they're trying. Three Kings doesn't even bother mentioning non cocktails or wines on it's website, so it's likely to be absolutely rubbish.

* By my very high standards.

Jp,

I am definitely coming. I have booked my hotel and I am looking around for the cheapest air fares. Count me in!

I would prefer Jetlag to be honest. It sounds more F1-oriented and good food is important to me! Getting there early will not be a problem for me as I am travelling down on the Saturday.

I'm beside myself with excitement already!

Would love to be in on this, but just a long-time lurker!  Have a great time at it guys... With a big group of ye, ye'll have no know-it-all bar-flys approaching ye, pretending they know everything about F1, and proceed to tell ye stuff ye know is 100% incorrect!   Happens to me and a buddy every time we hit the pub for the evening races!.  Most annoying thing for a F1 fanatic, people interrupting with bullshit, that rather than ruining the race by correcting them, you just agree with them so they push off fast.

Sounds like a blast will be had!

Unfortunately cannot be joining, living abroad but I will have one for you guys when watching the finale.

Cool.

I can confirm that 1) I'll be there and 2) I have extremely low standards when it comes to drink. Jetlag sounds like a laugh so that's got my vote... but 3 Famous Kings sounds fine too.

Sorry to hear you can't make it Midgrid!

I'm def in, but won't be needing food thus Three Kings will be my preference, and we can set it up how we like without the stress of getting there before crowds, etc. But I'll go with the flow. Does Jetlag SERIOUSLY require you to eat food? I like to drink lots of pints so surely that will suffice?

Hmm I live 260 miles away and would be abandoning my wife and child for the day but it does sounds very tempting indeed (can stay at my parents the night before)- will have chat with my wife- only downside can't drink too much alcohol as will have to drive back to Plymouth in the evening!

I doubt you have to order food - its not a restaurant and in any case even if it was a restaurant everyone on the table does not have to order food. Drink will suffice.

Haha cheers, then again I might order my own as being surrounded by chips will probably make me hungry!

Do they show from the start of Sky's buildup, ie. the track parade programme? I'll get there for then to be honest...

Gutted I've got to go on a family visit that weekend otherwise it would have been an easy 30 minute trip for me.

I hope Hamilton wins it, purely for the fact that my Mum is insufferable when anything goes wrong for him!
