There is a great story on this car in Excellence, a Porsche magazine,

which says it is 1008.

That writer says that the former race car of CeeGee, a famous Swedish disc jockey, was sold to Hans Thulin and that an American heard about a forced sale of assets and bought it , after besting two other buyers who were in town to bid on it too. I was wondering if this was really the Hans Thulin Abarth Carrera--somebody who saw the list of his assets for sale (Thulin was a fugitive financier who  built a collection of ultra-luxury cars, including the world’s most expensive automobile, a Bugatti Royale that he bought for $9.7 million in 1987 and sold for $15.7 million three years later) says it wasn't on the list. Maybe he owned a different one? I would like to hear the price paid and what year it was sold. I was wondering also if the story how the buyers competed with each other is true. I hope it is because it makes a good story, we rarely have a chance to see who else is bidding in these situations. Sometimes there's a chance there to psyche them out (Whatever you bid, I'll top you, yadda-yadda (do British people say "yadda-yadda?").

C-G (Carl-Gunnar) Hammarlund, was not a famous disc jockey. He was one of Sweden's best racing (and rally) drivers in the late Fifties and early Sixties and from 1956 he also had a weekly radio show about cars and traffic. He continued with that long after he had quit his racing career and all Swedes knew him from the radio. That he also had been a successful racedriver was not all that known. He also worked for BP Sweden for many years.
