A new low, a PUB is advertising on the car this weekend.

That reminds me of the March team in Montreal 1992 with all those low paying one-time sponsors. The team stopped racing at the end of that year.

But they did score points in that race!

Not even close.

For the Italian GP 1979, the hapless Merzario team (best result in 2 years of car-making, an unclassified finish; record in 1979, two retirements, and 15 DNQs) got sponsorship from an undertaker.

The Caterham administrator F. O'Connell has promoted himself from Interim Team Principal to Team Principal. Another F1 megalomaniac is born

Seems according to Will Buxton they are struggling to get Will Stevens super license through in time!

Also maybe linked that Charles Pic has pulled out of Formula E - coincidence or not???

Personally I feel happier about the reliability and safety of the Caterham this weekend than in the last races with the previous management

Love the bolded sentence:

"I've had 50 approaches and I think there are four parties who are serious parties," said O'Connell.

"For some of them it makes complete sense, if it ever makes sense for anybody to buy an F1 team.

That would be the previous management who are in dispute with his current employers? No bias there then.

I'm amazed anybody cares what Mike Gascoyne thinks given that its 2003 since he had any kind of success in a job, he wasted millions of Toyotas money and millions of Tony Fernandes money producing terrible cars.

DMN, As long as he gets the job done, he can call himself The Grand Poobah of Bongo Congo Land for all I care. Caterham have made a much better start this weekend than most of the naysayers on this site gave them credit for. FOC looks like he is actually MANAGING the team. People were saying they would do a few laps in practice, one lap in Q and start and park in the race. They did more laps in P2 than mercedes, Williams and Ferrari so is Toto going to issue team orders to LH and NR to start and park after 1 lap to conserve the cars ? It's easy to stand on the sidelines and $hitcan someone who is having a red hot go at getting 2 cars home in the race tomorrow. They have made a great effort just getting here. I hope their weekend improves from here.

Impressive effort by all the bods at Caterham. Amazing what clear leadership can deliver. Let's see who throws their hat into the ring. There are 2 possibilities; low cost, where the buyer already has preparation facilities and just needs the licence and design team. High cost, where the buyer would have to retool and re staff Leafield as well as purchasing the licence.
The FIA bond for any new team is $25 millions so one assumes the price is somewhere below that.

You know F1 is in a sorry state when someone who knows how to run a business is running a F1 team...

Well done to the team, and to Will on his debut. Let's hope he'll be on the grid in '15.

Turns out all they needed was a decent ownership and management structure.  Pity they won't ever race again to prove it for sure.

I would love to see Caterham on the grid for 2015. They don't give up, that's the spirit.

It really is a travesty. An administrator with NO F1 experience runs a struggling team better than its previous owners who spent years dicking about. I hope they find a buyer. F1 need at least 10 teams for the spectacle.

Well done to Caterham. Sorry not to see KK finish. Congrats to WS on a very serviceable first GP including giving Nando a WTF moment !! Haven't seen too many who poo pooed Caterham's effort to get to AD , coming on the Autosport forums to say they were wrong. Funny 'bout that .

I was pleasantly surprised at how they acquitted themselves tihs weekend; I always had more of a soft sport for Virgin/Marussia/Manor as they had the roots in a traditional racing team, whereas Caterham was a Fernandes vanity project, but it was clear this weekend how much the members of the team (rid of the management) are also true racers at heart. I hope we see them on the grid next year.
