Sorry about the double post but the only way I could upload the pics was by starting a new thread. It wouldn't work with the reply option

Great stuff John !

I find random paddock shots fascinating - I think they really capture the essence of the sport!

Keep 'em coming :) !

Well, there are some fantastic pictures of riders in track action on this forum, so I thought I'd post up a few padock shots. I've just re-discovered all these pictures in a couple of boxes at my parents house. I'd totally forgotten about them. I'm having a real trip down memory lane looking through them all.

I've posted some on Facebook and it's amazing the reaction I've had. I love this one below. It turns out that the little girl in Barry's arms is now Troy Corser's wife, Sam.

Yes, that's right. It's hard to believe all this was over 30 years ago.

I hope you don't mind me jumping into this thread - I found a few snaps from a Donington practice day and ran them through the scanner ....

What year are these from and is the second one a young Wayne Rainey?

I think it's Tiger Mike (Baldwin), also in the helmet signing autographs and of course on his trademark #43. Dave Aldana #40 of course. Match Race practice day? Jeez my memory is shot to ribbons :(

Ah OK thanks. Given that KR is there it must be '83 at latest or '82?

Its 84 Trans Trophy I think, Aldana was on a really slow/old RG500, Spencer crashed and broke his ankle ending the factory's letting "Works" riders take part in non championship races (Suzuka not included).

Thanks Graham. I thought KR had retired by then? I know he managed a team after that, but thought it was 250's  in 84, was he riding as a once off or there in a management role?

Hi Kevin, he raced at that meeting just checked DVD and these pics def from 84 Trans. Yes he did manage Rainey & Alan Carter in 250gp that year, so the Trans @ Donny may well of been his final outing?

Fastfitter, thanks for adding those great pictures to the thread. I'll see what else I can find. I worked for Mark Salle for a short time (end of 83 and all 84), so I might be able to find up a few more.

I was always busy back then and, of course, there was no such thing as camera phones unfortunately. My camera was a Canon A1 and it just wasn't possible to work on the bikes with a bloody great camera hanging round your neck.

Such a shame because there was some great photo oportunities that went begging.

Donington Transatlantic. Barry came over to loan us a few odds and ends and to help with a few issues.

From memory, I don't think we ever got the RG running spot on that day, but improvements were made. I'll have to try and find my old race log as I can't remember what the problem was

I remember young Alan Bloomfield working for Smutty Robinson around 1986.

Yes, that would be about right. Great lad, Alan. Don't know what he's up to now. I don't think any of the old crowd have seen him for quite a while.
