According to Sport Bild, Marco Mattiacci will leave Ferrari at the end of the season. He will be replaced by Maurizio Arrivabene, CEO of the Italian branch of Marlboro.

http://sportbild.bil...7618.sport.html

Translation (mostly by Google):

Sensation at FerrariSPORT BILD has learned from well-informed circles, Ferrari is approaching a new earthquake. After the signing of Sebastian Vettel and departure of Fernando Alonso on Thursday, SPORT BILD has now learned: team manager Marco Mattiacci is to step down after only seven months in office.

Supposedly FIAT CEO Sergio Marchionne was not satisfied with the work of the Roman.

LOL I really find this funny. Marco grand plan to get rid of Alonso to in order to bring a weaker driver?

If only I was paid extra to make my company weaker.

Amus are reporting this as likely too:

Mattiacci likely to leave Scuderia Ferrari. Maurizio Arrivabene rumoured to replace him. Ross Brawn also involved? http://ams.to/Wi

He was never going to be there in the long term, he was just there to look over this transition period. If he leaves it suggests that they've found a new team principle...it's gotta be Ross, surely?

Which is far from over. No way to make this out anything but a sacking, try as they may.

- Mattiacci will get another role/job  inside the Ferrari company

- Arrivabene asked Brown in the last weeks, if we would like to come back

- Also Aldo Costa is on the wishlist of Arrivabene, but Costa got a long term contract with Mercedes

Is that some April fool's joke?

Arrivabene => arriva bene => Here comes good.

By no means is that a dig at that person, but that name makes me kind of raising my eyebrows.

Sky now saying Ross Brawn is returning next season. Great news for Ferrari if true, even if it does all appear rather farcical from the outside.

Not true according to Ross, according to Martin Brundle.

Sky said it was a rumour going around the paddock.

Brundle (who is good friends with Ross) says that Brawn himself says its not true.

Brindle just said that he texted Brawn about it and he replied simply 'not true.'

Of course this being f1 that means absolutely nothing almost but so far I don't see it happening.

Martin Brundle just said Ross had personally denied the rumour to him when he asked, but I didn't catch *when* he told MB that.

Edited: slightly beaten on the RB update!

Not entirely true. They stressed it was a rumour. Also Brundle has just said he got a text from Brawn today re. the rumour which simply read "not true".

Though apparently Brawn denying it to Martin Brundle. Wonder if Vettel might be bringing some big name from RB?

Rejoin?  When were Brawn and Hamilton at the same team?

Hope it does happen (seems unlikely according to Brundle and the txt Ross sent him).  I'm not a Ferrari fan myself (nothing against them, just not the team I follow), but a strong Ferrari is good for the sport imo.

How dare you! There's no life outside of F1 and you know it! Don't let Bernie hear you or you'll be barred from ever watching F1 ever again.

Yeah because if Brawn and Ferrari are not going to announce it yet (which they haven't), Brawn is just gonna prematurely babble about it to a person working for TV channel. A friend or not, it's not going to be officially announced until it is officially announced, which is always done in the teams' terms.

I'm going to wait this one out and see if it's actually true before jumping to any conclusions (although I don't think it's true anyway).

However, I don't see why Mattiacci should get sacked. I quite like him as a TP.

There was speculation that Mattiaci was never meant to be a permanent solution, but I really hope Ferrari don't chuck just anybody in there and make a sporting decision, not a political one.

Well at least no one will be able to accuse Vettel of chasing titles.  :p    Ferrari will come about.  They've got time, money and motivation on their side.

That is what I heard as well.  He was supposed to come in and get everything sorted and then others would take over - and also learn about motorsports.  I heard that he was going to take on a more executive role in the conglomerate that entailed he understood its various umbrella activities.  But I read that in a business magazine, so who knows whether it is valid or not.

Mattiacci was a joke choice from day 1.

Exactly. Mattiaci was only a cover-up for Marchionne to take the whole team apart.

Now we will see what is going to be the outcome of this biggest shake up a team has seen in recent years.

If the Scuderia gets indeed 60 new technical stuff plus Ross Brawn then it will take 1 - 2 years only to sort the whole human operations and perfect the lines of command. Apart from anything technical regarding the car. To get a team going is of course Ross' strength, and then he has two drivers who got beaten nicely by there team mates this year.

If the new team boss were indeed to be Arrivabene the whole thing is going to be even more experimental.... Marchionne is going to make a monument out of himself concerning the Scuderia, one way or another.

I hope Marchionne knows what he is doing. I feel that if he is going to meddle in the team then the team is not going to do well. Manufacturer teams have only ever achieved success in the last 20 years when the team is essentially left alone to get on with it, as was the case with Renault.
