F1 world champion Hamilton wants to 'emulate' Senna in 2015 http://www.autosport...t.php/id/117082

Congrats to Lewis on the WDC (official now)!  I wonder though if it's time to leave the Senna worship in the past now that he'll be turning 30 in a few weeks.

Oh come on now, you are never too old for a bit of Senna worship   ;)

I don't see any fault in wanting to emulate a hero.  If that is what drives him, then that's what drives him.

8/13 this morning to win the 2015 WDC, Rosberg at 2/1.  I putting a punt on Rosberg for next year.  As well as one on Hamilton of course.   Rosberg each way is a no brainer.

After a week of celebrations & awards it would be lovely if Lewis got the BBC SPOTY award on Sunday. Having missed out on it in 2007 & 2008 perhaps fans in the UK can make it happen this year. So don't forget to vote on the 14th he'll need your help to beat Mcllroy!

:rotfl: Where do they come up with this stuff?

EDIT:

They did mention their source, the Daily Star, but they clearly misread the article.  The Daily Star seems to be celebrating Hamilton's earnings and his new contract, while at the same time indicating he will be taking a pay cut despite his WDC.

I read that initially as 'The Daily Star seems to be celebrating Hamilton's earrings' and was disappointed to learn otherwise.

Anyway:

just finished watching it (a champions story) really sheds a bit more light on Monaco and Spa, especially Spa when he said his engineers were really down and thought all was lost and he had to ginger them up and ask them not to give up now and its not over until its over.

As tough as this season has been for Lewis starting from Melbourne FP1 (technically even in testing), I don't think he could have asked for a better script.  He had a dominant car, but he still had to earn this World Championship; and he did so decisively.

Bravo Lewis!!

Absolutely. This season allowed him to show how talented and cunning he really is.

I agree and given a good, reliable season he could well be untouchable. Fingers crossed.

I get the feeling that Lewis has just gone up a level. You can tell by the way that he's conducting himself. Nico, or any other driver for that matter is gonna have to bring their A+ game to the party from now on if they're going toe-to-toe.

His confidence and self esteem must be sky high after coming through some series of serious setbacks and still won the championship by a factor of more than twice victories than anyone else; that included his teammate obviously.

He's beaten his teammate for the 2 years they been together in F1 just like he did in their pre-F1 era. That is not a statistic based on chance. I think these must be doing some psychological damage to Nico (after all he is human). The fact that the TPs considers him to be the 5th best driver on the grid won't be pleasant reading for him either, but I think Merc will find ways to encourage him to keep going if only for the sake of the brand and his pay check, and I hope he does so that we can enjoy watching them race... but if RB can close the gap to Merc and Ricardo can deliver on the promise shown this year, there will be fireworks regardless.

Thought it was a great programme, had a smile all the way through. Might be looking through my heavily tinted Lewis glasses here but, there was a point where Toto was talking about Lewis and the type of driver and person he is, where i thought "We're going to look back in about 20/30 years time and realise just how special this lad was", really is a privilege to be and to have been watching his career unfold right in front of our eyes.

I really believe that Lewis' marketing value as a Mercedes World Champion grew dramatically after Spa.  The Japanese are generally too polite to boo, but when Lewis took the lead from Nico at Suzuka it was clear who the favorite was.  The way Lewis dealt with his on-track adversity actually endeared many people to him internationally;  it wasn't just the "British fans" as Nico mistakenly believed.

Looks like he's in a good headspace ATM, he needs to stay there. Having that second WDC under his belt reduces the pressure and I believe he will be even more focused on achieving the next.

Yeah and lets remember, Hamilton probably won't start next with a 25 point deficit.

I think this is the season where he grew up, I really do: this was a different Hamilton that I have watched over the seasons.  I think with WDC #2 wrapped up, he'll be pretty strong next season.  However, I reiterate, Rosberg is no slouch and if you look at the gulf between them on race day, Rosberg can improve.  I will back Hamilton, but I may have a cheeky punt on Rosberg too, each way of course ;)

Just read an article on the BBC about the forthcoming review of the season on Sat BBC1 at 1pm (probably be available on iPlayer after that), in which he claims Rosberg braked 10m late at Monaco, which explains his 'if you could see the telemetry' comment.  Brings a new light to the argument; as Hamilton says, 2m late is a mistake, 10m?

Interesting article on there if you fancy a read.

Edit: Forgot to add that Lauda had a word with Rosberg post Spa and said, effectively, Hamilton was better at overtaking than him, which was why his attempt at Spa was wrong, as only Hamilton could have pulled off the move.  Prey eye opening...

I think we're a long way past celebrating Hamilton's WDC win and into it being a driver's thread.
