First tests are in 6 weeks time. Nowadays, you can only test with crash tested chassis parts. I don' think it's that early.

It's only a tub, nosecone and rear crash structure test. They can play with aero elements after that as planned.

New car, new thread.

^ What I was about to say. The crash structures are unlikely to change now, and even so they can just have the new parts tested again.

Yep, there was a big change in tub design from the '28 to the '29 which made it late. However they have been hinting that they are happy with the suspension and the '29 was already compatible with the 2015 chassis height regulations so they don't need much changing.
I'm not sure about the side-pod inlet structure as they changed the rules so they just had to bolt a "standard impact structure" (which is a nice name for a pipe looking thing) to the side without it being tested.

The PU tested at Abu Dhabi was I think the first gen, they are working on the second and will race with the third I think I read? Possible the early engine is overweight and the later versions will improve?Come Oz I expect Mercedes to be on the front row with Red Bull and McLaren fighting for the 2nd row.
Scarbs has hinted that he knows that the current PU is overweight.

This could be Honda looking into D-EGR, with up to 6 cylinders and one D-EGR cylinder.
http://papers.sae.org/2014-32-0108/
"To study the effect of D-EGR ratio, the number of engine cylinders was considered from 3 to 6, same meaning with D-EGR ratio 0.5-0.2."

what has that article got to do with Honda??

Typically the researchers leave the name of thier employer out of the paper. D-EGR is a way to get more efficiency which equates to more power in a fuel restricted formula. I have been suggesting Honda will use it to beat Mercedes in F1.

Fair enough but how did you make the connection with Honda?

When I first heard Honda was waiting 1 extra year to get back into F1, I thought they must want to make sure they can have a performance advantage by having extra time to implement recent advances.
The 1.6L F1 spec offers a lot of opportunities. 2014 was a good example with Mercedes surprising Ferrari and Renault.
And there is lots more to come.
